BTW, watching shit like The War Within, has not helped my recovery process. You know your movie is crappy when it's primary plot points are handled better in Lost flashback episodes.

And I still think Marty is a worse win.

What I don't appreciate is the way that those people act as though people who do like Crash have something very seriously wrong with them, have horrible taste, no knowledge of film and are general idiots. The basis of that mindframe suggests an overall lack of open-mindedness that will seep through in other posts.

Theres actually a huge number of people rambling on about how great Brokeback mountain is and how it forces us all to respect the choices of others. But those same people are literally tearing Crash down piece by piece because it won Best Picture? Or Because they didn't like it? Talk about hypocrisy of the highest order

It's the same story across the internet now. People dropping arrogant statements just because the godamn Oscars decided against the grain to pick an outsider as the winner.

Both Crash and BBM overrated, there I said it. The first hour of BBM is a mess, the second half redeems the film.

Anyway, people are always like this, heck you're not exactly nice towards celebrities you don't like. Everyone does things like this, yet we all get angry at everyone else for doing it.

The simple fact is the BBM people expected to win, and when it comes to the Oscars people get nasty, while I think Prouloux comments are over a line, at least she said what she thought, and other peopel are rightfully telling her how they feel. Its made for a more interesting post Oscar season.

For every BBM supporter bitching, there been a Crash supporting gloating, one is just as bad as the other.

What? No.
I deal with the famous as media products. The more they whore themselves, the more they'll be featured. At the end of the day I'm sure they are all lovely people, what seperates them the insecure idiots to is how seriously they take bitchy remarks like the ones i make that are intended to entertain and not hurt. I don't go up and make fun of celebrities who don't sell their souls to the media to advance their career, those people have my respect, and even those who don't i pity for the crushing force of media scrutiny.

Anyway, moving swiftly on, I'm neither. I really liked both Crash and Brokeback.I just feel in all this Crash backlash, people who liked the movie are being demeaned as idiots for no good reason at all. We all have our own reasons for liking a movie, abusing people who liked that movie, even suggestively, is not helping anyone.

The night of the Oscars I was working and watching the show on our TV's at work and this lady customer came in and was watching it with me...

They were doing some little awards and she was talking about who she wanted to win Best Picture and she stated "If that gay movie wins I'll be pissed"

After hearing her say that I knew that it wasn't going to win. Our society is way to closed-minded to even want to like Brokeback. Our society on a whole is not ready for a movie about homosexuals to win big. In fact, our society doesn't DESERVE for a movie about homosexuals to win big. Brokeback is too good for us. So we went with film that is just like every other film out these days, and we ate it up.

Now... I have never seen Brokeback Mountain, but I DO really want to. I DO think it deserved the Oscar even though I didn't see it. Sure, I wanted Munich to win, but I knew it had no chance.

You wanted a movie to win that you haven't even seen? Wow, that's pretty shallow of you. The reason Crash won is that it is a better film. Plain and simple. Brokeback was good, just not good enough.

Oscars are just politics. Like a high school presidency race, with smear campaigns and various sympathizers in every direction. It's not a gage of quality. Critic's groups are a little, but even there politics play out (See: Crash's Chicago win, or the most famous example, Brazil winning the LAFCA in '85). Crash's win is not surprising, and it doesn't mean anything.

And Baumer, Crash won for a lot of reasons, but not that it was 'the best film, plain and simple.' As this thread proved, that's never the case. No movie ever won for that reason. It's just not that simple.

Hello Baumer... I'm logic... You've never met me

Oh, and I NEVER said I WANTED Brokeback to win, I said that I think it deserved to win mainly based on the overwhelming odds it had already faced and beaten. I WANTED Munich to win, and I clearly stated that in my post. Read a little maybe?

Who am I to judge a movie that I have never seen? Hell, maybe GNAGL deserved to win, idk. But I know in my heart Crash did not deserve to win. But I have clearly stated all my other thoughts in my above post so...

Whenever someone types that Crash was the best film, I imagine that they're laughing all the while.

How can you deem who sells their soul for their career and who doesn't?

I never said you were I either, I merely said both are equally as bad, for every "your stupid for likeing crash remark" I've always seen "I'm better then you because the movie I liked won." If we're gonna throw stones, let's throw 'em at everybody.

Well, you are right. Oscars are politics, there is no denying that.

I have yet to read the thread in its entirety, but this comment I fully agree with. How on earth did Paltrow win against the brilliant Cate Blanchett is beyond me! :disgust:

I never saw SIL, but Blanchett was brillant, I really wanted her to win, I just assumed Paltrow was really good, though I've never been a big fan of hers. The oen thing i do like about Paltrow is in interviews sh enever lies about what she thinks about the films hse has starred in, and she never has. She admits she's been in alot of crap.

She was fine in the film. But she was not oscar worthy. The entire film was just fine. I didn't hate it. But it wasn't somethng that stayed with me after i watched it. I just think this is the best example of how the oscars can be bought.

Interesting...I haven't seen many interviews with her.

Paltrow was good, but Blanchett was very very very good and deserved the Oscar hands down.

i'd have to say that they really lost their touch as well as their heads this year when Crash won, and they also lost their head in thinking Silence of the lambs was one of the worst wins. wow, i'm really questioning their logics
