Curious George gets three theatres during the day and only one theatre at night? I can understand the need to do that on the weekend, but wouldn't it be better to have it in more theatres for Friday night after school? I'm going to predict now that you're underestimating the demand for Pink Panther. It'll be in one of the 400's by Saturday.

That was a misprint. It is fixed now.

Some (homeless looking) guy on campus told me he somehow got tickets to an advance screening of PP tonight. He thought it was "really good". It was "mostly full" when I asked, but that can really mean anything.

Well, that's weird, cause I was *AT* the Loews 34th and at around 7:15, nothing was sold out according to the board... but when I got out of the movie at 9:30 (early screening of Failure to Launch), the later screening of Final Destination 3 was the only thing sold out.

I guess I should have checked what size theatre Curious George was playing in (might have been put ina small theatre)... the place was pretty packed though...there were a lot of people there tonight.

Final Destination 3 - 2/10/06
7:45pm showing
80% full (466-seat auditorium)

TRAILERS
Running Scared (silent)
Mission: Impossible III (lots of talk)
Slither (talk and laughs)
Stay Alive (silent)
She's the Man (some laughs)
Take the Lead (talk)

End reaction was pretty mixed. I thought it was ok, but not as good as the first. BTW, the only sellout of the night was The Pink Panther at 8:25.

Matinee Report at my theater (before 6:45)

In admits

Final Destination - 262 (6 showtimes)
Curious George - 224 (5 showtimes)
Firewall - 196 (5 showtimes)
Pink Panther - 208 (7 showtimes)

It looks like Final Destination will win the night. Pink Panther looks to be the lowest performer of the night (per theater wise that is). I hope this is the outcome of the numbers (this would help my numbers).

The Pink Panther
9:40 show, 300-seater, about 1/3 full.

Trailers
Madea's Family Reunion
The Benchwarmers
RV
Ice Age 2
The Shaggy Dog

Movie
Shoot me, but I thought it was funny. We were going to see Firewall but then decided we wanted to see something light and silly after a long week, so we saw this instead (Final Destination was actually the first choice but it was sold out). Um, anyway, the movie is dumb but just funny in an amusingly slapstick way. A decent way to kill a few hours. B-

Crowd seemed to enjoy it, plenty of laughs. As I said, I saw a sellout for Final Destination for a show that started around the same time as Pink Panther. Firewall looked about the same number of people that Pink Panther had.

Too bad you couldn't see FD3 Libs but nice to see it sold out. I will be seeing it tomorrow, along with Panther and Firewall.

Mrs Henderson Presents

7:20pm - AMC Emeryville, CA

lots of people in a small auditorium.

The house lights were left on "50%" during the whole movie, and then when the credits started to roll the automation then turned the lights off just in time for everybody to trip down the stairs. I hate AMC. (sorry Scott.)

Was the MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION trailer you saw before THE PINK PANTHER really short? The one I saw was. I mean, like TV spot-length short.

The RUNNING SCARED trailer before FD3 was also really short (30-seconds and it ended with an invite to the official site, where the opening 6 minutes are available). The last time I remember seeing TV spot-style ads before theatrical movies was a DEVIL'S REJECTS one before DARK WATER last summer and I hope it's not becoming a trend, it's annoying and defeats the purpose of trailers (to give people a larger understanding of a movie's plot and style).
