I have to say that Ana Lucia was incredibly tolerable in her two minutes last night. Usually just the sight of her makes me vomit, but she wasn't hateable to me. Perhaps this episode was filmed shortly after the Ana Lucia backlash kicked in.

I think they've sold the concept that not many people actually like to be in the hatch.
Thoughts:
1. Some of the island stuff this week was very strong. I love the interaction with [s]Rupert[/s] Zeke. I think the fact that the script didn't tell Jack/Sawyer to say this:
Zeke: This is our island
Jack: Then why did you blow up our fucking boat so we can get off the island!
...says either a lot about the nature of the island's secrets or say something about the island being inescapeable. It would have given a lot away.
2. The Jack flashbacks weren't interesting... I think they were among the lamest of the season.
3. The interaction between Sun and Jin was great. I read a CNN article with Daniel Dae Kim today which states that he got a lot of negative feedback when the series started because the "Asian guy" was so negative and hard nosed, but now that Jin has gotten a little more personable and some of the other characters aren't as shiny that his character is now being looked on as a pretty positive thing for Asian representation on US TV. He sounds like a good guy. The Sun/Jin storyline is one of the interactions I like on the show the most.
4. Michael went maybe a little bit tooooooo nuts at the beginning.
5. Even though I like the new characters, having a storyline with Jack/Kate/Locke/Sawyer alone is kind of a throwback to Season 1. I do appreciate the interaction that this group of characters has with each other. I especially liked the look on Locke's face when Zeke addressed him. Locke feels a certain kinship with the island that seems to be eroding day to day and I believe he (unlike Jack or Sawyer) is genuinely scared by the Others.
6. Ana Lucia has been softened over the last few episodes a bit. But I *loved* Jack coming to her and asking her about "training an army". Honestly, it's the only thing Jack has done this season which shows he has any scrotum.
7. Looking forward to Charlie FINALLY going off the deep end and dipping back into the H. How this will effect the whole camp in general will be interesting... I'm sure Jack and them will notice it. Charlie obviously sneaked off into the jungle a few times to get all of the statues, I wonder what little secrets and hiding places he has uncovered. I wonder if its the subconcious memory of what happened with Ethan and while he was missing is starting to come to the surface.
8. Next episode should feature Claire repeatedly screaming "MAH BABY, MAH BABY!!!" over and over. I hope we are getting into her story a bit. I understand the reasons why she has been so disconnected from the show with both her movie and the amnesia, but personally I think the "amnesia" is kind of a joke and the worst plot device that the show has come up with. I mean... I can imagine if she was drugged and hauled off... but the "not remembering the plane crash" bullshit will never be addressed, ever... blah.

I feel sorry for Libby. First an embarassing DUI and now she has to be Hurley's love interest. I'm not sure that is what she expected when she signed on.
It bugged me that Jack cried yet again. He has cried more than all the women on the show combined. Of course he had good reason, since his [s]conniving cheating bitch[/s] wife was leaving him but still.

Crying once or twice since the show started would be fine, but they're overdoing it. I think they're trying hard to get him an Emmy nomination next year.

Perhaps they're all killers, in some way or another. Is that what we're gearing towards?
It's a rather piss-off that we've just went by the umpteenth Jack episode, and we're only just coming up to the second Claire episode.

Also I think that Zeke was part of the Dharma experiment, and I think most of the people with him were also, maybe the "incident" did something to them, I don't know
Lost
This site was set up by the people of ABC, and look under the picture of the guy in the right, and tell me if the writing sounds anything like what Zeke said....

umm .. now that i think about it, why is ana lucia training these people? wouldn't a member of the iraqi republican guard be a better candidate for that.

Do you guys think there is any chance that Jack's wife left him for another member of the island main cast?
@baba not only that but there's 3 dozen other people, some of them might have appropriate skills, ex-military or whatever.

Did Jack really know he was a soldier? All he knew I think was that Sayid was a good torturer.

Because Jack wants Ana Lucia.
Or maybe it's because she has experience with killing people on the island.
Or because she sucks and he wants her to die through friendly fire.

Jack said that Sayid told him about Ana Lucia being a cop, so he's obviously aware that he could have asked Sayid. Maybe he's afraid that Sayid's still emotionally unstable because Shannon died two days ago, and Jake is therefore afaid to give him any responsibilities. Jack has a tendency to make decisions for people without asking for their opinions (or without caring about their opinions), so I wouldn't be surprised if Jack is just being a douche for not asking Sayid.

Well, that would tie in with the "everything's connected" thing.

According to my Tivo, Lost is new this week but is a repeat the week after. And it's not even an episode from this season. The episode is 'Numbers'. Anyone else think that that is a weird epsiode to repeat??? And I wonder if the week after that is also a repeat??

After next week, the next new episode is February 8. So, yes, two weeks of repeats.

I don't really like Charlie at all on the show, but I had to admit that the preview for the episode looked quite interesting. It wouldn't surprise me at all to have Aaron end up floating away, to say, the others or Rosseau, and they end up taking care of them...
