Major bad blood between Kelly Clarkson & American Idol??
Clarkson Won't Let 'Idol' Use Her Songs
AP - 1 hour, 25 minutes ago
PASADENA, Calif. - Singer Kelly Clarkson, who vaulted to fame as the first "American Idol" winner in 2002, is not letting any of her songs be used by new contestants on the show. A spokesman for Clarkson insisted it's nothing personal, but the stance prompted a public scolding from "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell. "I think that by ignoring the show you're ignoring the audience who put you there," Cowell said Tuesday.

it's funny I remember how I heard that Simon and the other judges called Fantasia, their favorite, and what a true AI was.
I wonder how the bad blood started / went with Kelly and also how she seemed to get out of that first very rigid AI contract > even doing her own thing on her second album.
Wonder after the first album and the movie she just BROKEAWAY................... AND CAUSED THE BITTERNESS.

Kelly Clarkson did not write Since U Been Gone.
Behind These Hazel Eyes, Because of You etc would be considered "hers."

Don't know if I'd want my songs associated with that show, either.

It's because her new managment is hell-bent on finally whiping AI off her CV.

Number one show on television with 30 + viewers a week. I don't think it'll be too bad for her considering that AI viewers are MORE likely to end up buying her CD if they see her work on the latest version of Idol. It's essentially reinvigorating the fanbase. But I would definitely have a clause, say only the top 5 could sing one of her songs. But I guess what she'd especially wouldn't want is someone like Carrie Underwood singing a Kelly Clarkson song in the final 5, only to sing it better than her...

So, is this proven or is it just a rumor? There's really nothing that she can do about auditions, since they've been filmed months in advance. The top 32 is already chosen, has it not? We're just getting caught up, then we vote for the best and the wild cards. So, I find it a bit hard to believe this, but I wouldn't disagree with her, either. She doesn't want to be known as a Reality Star, she wants to be known as a real musician.

AI and any other place must obtain permission from owners of song licenses before the music can be used on the show.
Clarkson is not allowing any of her songs to be licensed for other uses, said Roger Widynowski, a spokesman for Sony BMG. “It has nothing to do with ‘Idol,’†he said.
The show’s executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, said he requested songs to be used on this year’s show. He said he’s not even sure Clarkson herself is aware of the situation.

I'd believe it that Kelly doesn't know of the situation.

So, apparently she's cool with her songs on the show. Either she knew nothing of the situation (my best guess), or there's some backtracking about the situation. I really doubt the latter, because it'd be stupid to think that this wouldn't be brought up in TV news. Any thoughts now?
EDIT: Copy and paste the link, for some reason the link thing won't work.
