Beverly Hills, CA — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced the seven films being considered for Achievement in Makeup for the 78th Academy Awards®.

The films in consideration are listed below in alphabetical order:

"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the
Wardrobe"
"Cinderella Man"
"A History of Violence"
"The Libertine"
"Mrs. Henderson Presents"
"The New World"
"Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith"

Jesus Christ, no Kong. :disgust:

A History of Violence?!

For what, Ed Harris' eye?

Kong. Batman Begins  Brokeback. Geisha.

I guess all the burns on Anakin wowed them this time. A History of Violence... is it because of Ed Harris?

My predictions:

The Chronicles of Narnia
Mrs. Henderson Presents
Star Wars Episode 3

The New World could take Mrs. Henderson's spot.

for the gore effects me thinks.

I'm going to need a valium for the Kong snub. The natives had incredible makeup effects.

No Memoirs eh? That's a bit ridiculous.

Yeah, no Kong is upsetting as well. The way the luminous Watts is done up in that movie should have been enough, natives be damned.

Geisha and Kong were definitely snubbed. Probably some stupid little rule (ala Brokeback and best song)... not enough eye shadow visible.

Kong's work on Watts and the natives was a fantastic highlight... what a shame to see it's space go to The Libertine (!).

I think it's the damn poofy wigs that helped The Libertine.

So 3 of these will get nominated, right?

I predict: The New World, Cinderella Man and Narnia.

Oh, Sin City was also snubbed.

Ewww, terrible list. So many more deserving snubs in this category, it's unbelievable.

Oscars are messed up this year. I hope their ratings plummet just to send a message.

PEACE, Mike.

I didn't think the aging makeup was up to par.

Ugh... what a horrible list.

No Kong???
No Geisha???
No Brokeback???

I'm sorry Loyal but BM's makeup was quite impressive. I'm not even talking about the aging, which also didn't seem to have problems.

Yeah, I don't know. I can think of ten films that spanned the same amount of time that were seamless. Beards and chops and a few wrinkles don't do much for me.

Besides aging, what was makeup used for in the film? Besides the standard stuff.

Makeup also includes hairstyling, for those who want to know.

Frida's unibrow and moustache:

I'm glad A History of Violence scored a nod in this category. It's an early sign that the film may have strong support throughout the Academy.

What a shame, what a freaking shame! No Kong and Geisha?

Seriously, I really hope their ratings drop like a rock, so next year they will have to nominate blockbusters that stand at 10% at RT as the punishment, just to get the ratings up a little. Bleh!

My predictions:

Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The New World

You know, the make up job on Heath was top notch, but you can't strap a really bad moustache and mutton chops on Jake and make him look 40 something.

Haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, but the pictures f the make-up looked decent.

The aging make-up in A Beautiful Mind and in Life was top notch.

Personally I thought the make-up in A Beatuiful Mind was ass too. Aging is tough.
