Didn't the producers or someone say that Eko's staff in the tailie episode had significance?

I'm more upset that Charlie has another episode dedicated to him.
Why is he so significant to the show that he has three? Seriously, what a flipping annoying ass character.

Most characters have at least 3 by now (or 3 planned). Except Claire. I bet Materinty Leave is her #2.

That will be his 5th before Claire gets her second
I have a feeling they are waiting for Claire until they get a big episode, like something that will reveal alot.
Remember in the finale we find out that the French chick had something to do with kidnapping her... so maybe her next episode will revolve that and being something of big importance, alot may be built up to it. Just a thought.
And also... I was rewatching all of Kate's episodes and I had some stuff to say about her 3rd one, Born to Run, last episode of the season before the Exodus series.
First off, what an amazing episode. I didn't remember it being that good.
So, my inquiries lie in her flashbacks, most notably he opening scene.
IT shows her driving a car, with a hair dyed blonde. She drives into a motel parking lot and grabs a towel and shampoo from a maid's cart and goes into a recently checked out, yet somehow door-left-open room. She starts showering and takes the dye out of her hair.
She then goes to a post office or maybe the front desk of the motel and says she's expecting a letter. And claims her name to be Jone Hart. Sure enough, there is a letter. She reads it with money in her hand (most presumably also from the letter) and learns (As we find out later) that her mom has cancer or something and this sets up her flashback with childhood sweetheart and her mom in the hospital.
What I'm interested in is the opening flashback. What was she doing before? Why was her hair dyed blonde? I know it's silly and trivial and just meant to reveal more about "who" she is but I'd be extremely pleased and happy to see if one of her flashback later on will come back to what she was doing befor she came to the motel. The scene I described, I think was among the best shot scenes in the series; there was jut something to it.... it as so engaging.
And also... who sent her the letter? I'm assuming, nwo that we had another KAte episode in Season 2, that it was her dad (not the one she blew up). But he knows where she is? And sending her letters in an alias? He's helping a fugitive is he not?
This might all mean nothing and never again be addressed, but I thought it was fascinating. I don't care what others think, I still believe Kate to be among the best characters and definitely among my few favorites.
As for JAck's upcoming episode... I hope they finally explain what the hell happened to his wife! There is no other backstory pending with him is there?

Hmmm...I wonder if Jack's father was the doctor treating Locke when he "lost" his legs...maybe it was his fault even?

I'm pretty sure it's scheduled. They had already hired a girl for Episode 2.02, but then it was changed to a Michael episode.

I think it makes the episodes much more iconic by focusing on a single character. The flashbacks provide great contrast to the island.

The flashbacks are starting to have some greater significance as the connections between everybody are becoming more apparent.
Sawyer has kind have been down and out with his wound over the last few weeks, he'll have another episode before the end of the season. And it's likely that Jack will have at least one more episode this year

The thing is that if the show runs on for five seasons, they just can't stretch out the flashbacks that much...

You know, if Maternity Leave isn't Claire, I'd bet its the French Woman's. She's an essential part of the story, and they could play it as a big event episode, with the built-up Alex shocker reveal and such. It would be an extremely interesting episode I think.

I think one of them says it on the dvd features that when they originally were thinking up the entire plot fo the show, they got around 4-5 years worth covered.
Actually, at this point I think there is SO MUCH they could do with flashbacks and with so little of it in each episode, I don't know if they will fit it all in 5 years. If they had planned to stretch out the mystery for a certain amount of time, the worry isn't in that there would be a lack of flashback material. Quite the contrary, along the way they'd probably think of more ideas and elaborations (if thats a word) that they would probably be writing themselves well passed 5 years.
By the way, didn't someone mention or a source said that the structure or nature of the flashbacks would change by the end of this season?

I read that somewhere too.
I think by this means there is going to be a lot, lot, lot, lot, lot more interconnection between the flashback stories. It started big time with Sawyer at the end of last year and now it's starting to get more intense.

I wonder if there will be more deaths this season.
I don't think so...
