this entire season took a bad turn for me once michelle rodreigiuz showed up. with each pasng episode, i realized i felt agitated and i started feeling hot, only to realize that its probably my blood boiling. i've seen this women on 4 seperate occassions now and in each one, she plays the same parts, same expressions, same tone of voice. its like she has creative control on her characters cause everything about her character and the way people react to it is awful. half the time, there is no reason for what she does. i was hpoing when jack found her, she had killed herself out of guilt. but no. she had to be alive. damnit.

why don't you kill yourself out of guilt?

i still don't feel guilty.

list of issues i've developed with the show.

1) my biggest gripe with the show is how it sometimes ignores some pretty common sense things just so that they can do something with the story.
example: after ana lucia shoots shannon, and michael leaves, fine, he was in a hurry. but then jin left. those 2 people left. they all left from the exact same path where shannon was lying dead. no one took her only so, for the purposes of the story, saeed could pick her up and take her. sorry but i hate that kind of writing. add to that, Jack didn't even show emotions to the fact that shannon was dead, he seemed more concerened about seeing ana lucia again during the end scene. same thing with that chick from the other camp just disappearing. sorry but that was really lame.

2) it takes mere seconds here and there to rectify this problem and put others at ease that at least everyone is being real about things. but people on this show can be scared shitless one minute and the 2nd minute, when someone dies, be completely normal about it. or if it ain't a main character, they dont even care. we've had 1 guy blow up, another drown and a third murdered, none of whom we care about. have we come across the grave so far of the one man who is not important but have confirmation that they have his body? nope. but boone and shannon had proper funerals, people seemed to care and their graves are together. well .. umm .. waht about the other 2? i understand they've been together for only 40ish days but still, these are all the people you know and you're all together in this. yet death is treated so lightly on this show, its unbelievable.

3) to add to the 2nd point, you have some crazy gizmo (which i believe is a machine, not an animal) destroying things, wild polar bears, weird people kidnapping people and everyone only shows fear when someone is immediately happening, not otherwise.

4) there are too many plot holes now in the series. jin and michael come back and everyone runs to greet them. no one other than some girls and saeed knew that there may have been problems. my normal reaction would be, what the fuck are you doing back here, not hey JIN!! man ... howz it going!!.

5) people's reactions to situations. shannon just got shot and killed. michael and jin don't say a freaking word. this ana lucia character, has gotten that other guy killed so far as well, now she shoots this girl, has shown no concern yet people are still asking for her orders instead of telling her that shes a freaking retard.

6) The first season was good. the story unfolded, answered things while posing more questions. the flashbacks served a purpose back then. we got to know some characters and even some details on how they all related. i liked how some characters were somehow intertwined with each other's lives as well. This season though, the story is getting more complicated for the sake of complications, for the sake of keeping someone tuned in ... but no other reasons. i agree with loyal. it seems like they're making this up with every passing day instead of how in season 1, it always looked like things are going somewhere. and then, the flashbacks this season have served little to no purpose. Desmond's addition was useless. the entire dharma thing would have been good if only they had not just suddenly sprung it on. i mean, the idea behind it is fascinating but the way theyre doing it seems more of an overkill than anything else.

basically lost is doing something i hate in almost any kind of media. events take place for the sake of taking place. no other reason.

i'm still hooked on it though.

Good post and I think you are basically in synch with loyal and me and a few others. We all vary some but the complaints you make are in the same ball park.

Why have they not explore the island more, at least gone around it? For all they knew last season they could have been on a mainland, they just assumed they were on an island. There could have been a carnival cruise ship docked 5 miles away along the coast and they wouldn't have known because they just sat around assuming.

The show started out great last season with a lot of attention given to the basics of survival, but it has drifted over time to focus more on the soap opera aspects and leaves undone a lot of common sense things they should be doing.

I almost wish it would drop in the ratings some, not bomb but go down some so that they'd realize they have to improve the writing.

5 people out of 250... you don't think this is everyday odds of meeting a dangerous person?

5 people out of the 10-15 who have had their backstories explained. With that ratio, it could be 80+ dangerous people on the plane. :)

5 out of 250 certified psychos or killers in '1' plane ... nope ... those odds ain't good. then add the other people that others mentioned .. that plane was doomed.

Most of them are hardly psychos or specialized killers...

By the way, my friends and I had the Lost night Part 2 tonight when I watched episodes 7-9 with them (they saw them for the first time. One of them loves the second season, the other one is rather mixed and thinks that things are simply getting way too overstuffed and complicated in the series in a way that the makers will never be able to rationally explain it all.

Both of my friends hate Ana-Lucia and simply want her to die ASAP.

I don't mind her, especially after her flashback.

Maybe we'll come to love her just as we did Sawyer. It took people awhile to find love for Sawyer, most people hated him at the beginning if I remember right.

That's what they are hoping but the difference is Sawyer was simply annoying and hogged some supplies, he never killed or caused to be killed any of the other survivors and didn't try to be in charge. Sawyer also has more than 2 facial expressions.
