An opening of $15-16 million is looking good for Syriana, as of now.
Geisha and Brokeback Mountain will both have $60,000+ PTA's, BM might even top $80,000.

They do suck. They're perhaps the most conservative studio out there. It's pathetic, really.

I don't mind. I predicted PP not to break 40 million, and it's a BO 50 Question I don't want to get wrong.

It still may break 40 if it has good holds. It certainly deserves to cause it's brilliant.

It WILL break $40 million. In the weekend wrap-up I projected $41 million and I was trying to be safe.

It has nothing to do with BO, but Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is for some indiscernible reason coming to a shitty multiplex near me on Friday! Holy crap! Thank you cinema gods!

Yeah, I'm fairly sure Universal will give King Kong their company record theater count.
Hopefully, it's near 3700.

I hope one of you will be able to tell us KK's print count. That matters far more than the theater count, when we're talking about a film with 3,500+ theaters.

I'm sure King Kong will be able to get a huge amount of theaters/screens. Aside from Syriana, Narnia, The Family Stone and Harry Potter (and MAYBE Walk the Line), I don't think any movies will be above 5 million by that weekend. And Universal exec's have made it very clear that while they release some movies on smaller amount of screens they intend on giving King Kong every last theater they can get.

With the Peter Jackson name and the enormous hype, I'm certain King Kong will get at least 3700 theaters if not more.

Incredible that Hulk still hasa the biggest theatre count of all Universal flicks.
Then again, Universal often tends to give its movies not to spectacular theatre counts. It aint Sony.
