Cars - New Box office predictions after seeing new teaser?
After seeing the new Cars teaser, do you have new box office predictions for it?
I certainly do, this film looks more tolerable now, and much more fun than the garbage teaser from earlier.
Before seeing the latest teaser prediction: $59 m/$225 m
After seeing the teaser: $67 m/$255 m
Still don't think it has the fun factor of the other Pixar films just yet, but it's getting better.
The teaser is up at Apple trailers.

Hasn't the Cars teaser been available since last fall?

Many of you are underpredicting the legs. It will get the summer weekdays, don't forget that!

Big numbers.
Nothing really handicaps it from the other Pixars, and then you've got a lot of crazy Nascar fans. They can put 200 thousand people in a stadium to watch cars drive around in a circle for 6 hours straight. I'll say 325 mil for now, could go higher.

Bumpage.
OW: 70m. Incredibles and Nemo both opened wiht 70m. This won't be any different
Total: 275m
Won't get Nemo-legs, but still good legs.
It's going to have REALLY good legs in June though. At par with Nemo. But it won't have as good as legs in July with SR and POTC2.
Should have repeat no. 1 weekends, as I think its 2nd weekend will be above 45m, and I honestly don't see fast and furious 3 opening above 40m MAX.

Should be the No.2 film of the summer and possibly No.1 if POTC2 underperforms.

This thing won't have a multiplier under 4, I can assure you on that.

It will easily have a multiplier of 4 unless WOM is somehow shockingly bad. It has a real chance even at a multiplier of 5. Still given the trailers so far I really don't think this will open that well.
40m/185m

i highly doubt a Pixar/Disney film can open that low.
55m is A LOCK on OW

So, appearently, It's actually good?
I think the opening will still be below Nemo and Incredibles, but it'll still do v. well.
Opening: 66.3
Total: 301.0 (4.54)

If that review is accurate of the film, then this will be the 2nd biggest Pixar film ever.
OW: 65m
Total: 290m (4.46)
Opening lower than Nemo and Incredbles because I feel that 2 big CGI films already in theaters(OTH & Ice Age 2) will hurt its OW.
But legs should be amazing.

Cars isn't as a great of a background as superheroes and fish were. The trailer just isn't as appealing. It will have fantastic WOM though.
Opening: $47 million
Total: $210 million
It will first be labeled as a "Pixar" disappointment because of it opening lower, but it just doesn't have as much potential.

Yeah, I do see a weaker opening weekend, but the fantastic reviews and WOM should give it some fantastic legs. I'm thinking 55/270
