BKB's God(George Lucas) predicts 150MILL OW for KK!
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,177785,00.html#2
He also told Army Archerd, Variety's famed columnist  who's writing a must-read blog now at the newspaper's Web site  that he thinks "King Kong" will do $150 million in its opening weekend.
Lucas told me though that he doubts "King Kong" will get an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, even though it should.
"These kinds of movies rarely do," said the director of six blockbuster movies that were never nominated either.
You can read the rest of the article and read the praises KK and Jackson got from Lucas himself!
BKB must be devastated, his god has left him!
BKB:God(Lucas),why have you forsaking me?

This is pretty odd. From what I read from the fanboys, Lucas and Jackson are supposed to be in some sort of celebrity deathmatch, not praising each other.

Could Lucas be way over guessing so that no matter what Kong does it will look disappointing?

I dont know... It seems kind of impossible for a 3 hour movie to make 150 million in its opening weekend, unless he's talking 5-day?

Lucas flat-out loved The Lord of the Rings.

Didn't Star Wars get nominated for Best Picture?

It did and was beat out by Annie Hall.

I don't put much stock in this article really. King Kong will be hige though but I doubt Lucas said that I mean he does know BO business very well.

And American Graffiti.
And he's only directed 5 blockbusters. THX doesn't count.

He definitely was talking about the 5-day weekend. It wouldn't be impossible; Spider-Man 2 did it and Revenge of the Sith easily did it.
I don't think it will, though. It'll be lucky to do $100M in 5 days.

This film will be a juggernaught regardless - but it doesnt need a Spidey/HP type opening. Really $75-$90 over 5 days will suffice. December isnt about the opening weekend as much as the legs and it seems this film will have great legs. Im leaning over $350m now.

I don't see how it could do $350M+ with a $75-90M 5 day weekend. Unless you expect Fellowship-like legs :o.

If you don't mind me asking, but how is it that Lucas is supposedly my God anymore than any other SW fan which must include Maverikk as well as a handul of other posters?? Just curious??? As for 150 Million in 3 days?? Breaking that down would mean 50 Million for Friday, Saturday and Sunday when I think most movies drop on Saturday or Sunday.. I would have to say anything is POSSIBLE, but the more likely scenario would be around 80 Million for 3 day and 50 Million for Wednesday and Thursday with 130 Million give or take for a 5 day total.... If this movie were get 150 Million in 3 days, I'll change my avatar(even reluctantly so, but only for 30 days and you can hold me to that, but only if it's for a 3 day total)......
