HORSIES!

I thought it was an improvement over all the recent Ana Lucia-centered episodes. Anything in the hatch will keep me interested, though.

I don't know about Kate's backstory, though. Not sure if I bought it, but I was interested.

I thought that scene in the jungle with the kiss was kind of dookie.

I think this just might be my favorite episode.. the only other one I really, really liked was the season opener. The Kate flashbacks were interesting, although.. I don't know. I expected something more of the crime she committed I guess. But it wasn't dissapointing either.. and I liked the blowing up the house.. it was something I didn't expect (not in the first flashback of the episode anyway) and was a little taken aback when it happened.

The Kate/Jack kiss that I was so anticipating... blah. Kristin from E! Online and other sites were making it seem like this hot and heavy passionate kiss, but... it wasn't. I guess I expected more. It didn't even seem like Jack was all that into it. And when Kate pulled away.. the commercial made me think she regretted doing it, but watching the full scene... for some reason I feel as if she thought he was someone else. THat was the first thing that popped into my head as she pulled away and ran. I don't like how Jack went running to Ana-Lucia and Kate back to Sawyer after the kiss either. The Sawyer-Kate thing wasn't that bad.. Sawyer made me laugh with the whole, "You mean the big ass horse standing in the middle of the jungle.. yeah" in response to Kate asking if he saw the horse. But seeing Jack with Ana-Lucia.. yech. And that was extra time we had to see her ugly face.

I like the Walt/Michael computer connection thing, but not expecting much from it. I don't even think it's Walt. But I'm curious how it turns out.

I love the Eko/Locke pairing. It was refreshing seeing Locke again. I loved his line about Eko really going way back.

All in all, a great episode. It was such a relief to see Kate, Locke, and Jack being the focus of the show again as opposed to the tail end survivors. I know everyone complains about them getting so many flashbacks, etc. etc., but for me, the show just isn't the same when they're not apart of it.

Next week (or whenever it airs again) looks good too. Are we going to finally see the monster? Let's hope so.

GREAT EPISODE. By far the best of the season (up there with "Orientation" and "Man of Science, Man of Faith"). This show is really moving in an interesting direction it seems. Mr. Eko is my new favorite character, along with Locke and Sawyer as the old-timers. I'm going to rant a bit about the greatness that was tonight.

The flashbacks were actually pretty interesting, the film stuff in the hatch was VERY interesting, it was funny (Hurley giving thumbs up to Jin/Sun sex, Hurley's meta-line about Bernard being white, Sawyer's line about the horse) the acting and dialogue was all excellent tonight, Charlie wasn't an ass for once, very little Ana Lucia (or as some fans call her- AnaL- HA HA HA HA!), the KISS (whoa), and the conversation that Locke and Eko had about Josiah and the temple ROCKED.
Amazing ending. Great cliffhanger of an ending. "Dad?" WALLTTTT!!!! Can't believe we have to wait until January 11th!!! *grrr...sigh*

And next episode....looks FRIGGIN' INTENSE and awesome. We get (monster?) action and Eko reciting a (Bible?) verse while shooting a gun. Very interesting- I think the religion theme is going to be important in the future.

Great episode! The only thing I didn't like was the Sawyer/Kate stuff. The scenes themselves weren't that bad, but the whole "everytime I see you, I see my step-dad, err...real dad, but I think I love you" thing was annoying. Sawyer needs to be with Anna Lucia and then they can go off and leave Kate to be with Jack.

Kate's backstory was very booooooooooooooring. By the time it was revealed what she did to who, I didn't care.

That said, I thought all the present day island drama was the best yet for season 2 but still sub par to season 1.

The ending was craptacular, mainly because it was no surprise as to what was going to happen at the computer.

Looking forward to the second half of the season, the Eko/Charlie connection, and of course, THE MONSTER.

Yes! My thinking exactly. Kate and Jack belong together, haha.

Eko is now I think very close to being my favorite, along with Locke. And guess what? Next episode is Eko's!

The ones after that are: Jack, and then Charlie...

Excellent episode, however my damn PVR was only set to record it for an hour. Luckily I have west coast ABC and am recording that as I type... sounds like I missed a lot in that last 5 minutes. Anyhow, it was great to get back to the actual story and the main players. Less of Michelle Rodriguez was a very good thing. Now if we could just have more Hurley.

I actually think that Sawyer and Kate make a better match for each other... they seem like they'd have more in common that her and Jack. Then again, I think that Kate should really end up with Hurley.

I didn't like the first half of this episode, at all. I like Kate and all, it just felt like ... "All Bad Cowgirls Have Daddy Issues". I had imagined that Kate would have been responsible for something far more... grand. There was no build up for Kate's paternal problems. It was just flat. But her army dad guy gave a great performance. And Kate had a good performance when she went crazy in the forest.

Shannon's death lacked weight in last week's show (which was otherwise great) and again here, except the excellent acting by Sayid. Jack in this episode was kind of... a dick, as usual. Even the music, which is otherwise wonderful just wasn't here. Kate kissing him was kind of a non-issue.

Where this episode is stronger is with Locke, Eko and Michael, and into that circle Jin. These four are really interesting and great.

Any episode with that film is great. Something about that film really freaks me out. I hate jumpy video, it always sounds like there are hidden things between frames and something is going to pop out at any minute. Eko pulling out the Bible with the extra footage was a trip. I had caught that there was missing footage during the first time I saw it, and I had assumed it was purposeful on part of the company.

It was a beautiful horse. I don't think we should underestimate the "shared visions" anymore. Something mystical is going on here.

Eko fucking rules. The next episode looks amazing.

Can any of you good samaritians summarize the last 10 minutes or so, when I may have, um, fallen asleep....

Especially if we saw what the missing footage was, and just what the hell happened at the 'computer' you're all talking about.

Danke.

I posted a link on the previous page to a complete walkthrough of the episode, it probably has what you want.

While it was pretty obvious that it would be the guy in the first flashback would be the guy Kate killed, I did NOT expect her to blow up the whole damn house, let alone in the first flashback. And while I knew that it would be Walt at the other end of the computer, it still left me going "WTF?!"

And Eko is the coolest character ever. Emmy, please!

I'm confused. Doesn't Locke say that you can't type anything into the computer until the last four minutes?

Hmmmm.... very interesting episode.

I was a bit underwhelmed, but that video and the last minute made up for all of that.

I find it funny how last season I was one of the only posters here who loved Kate as a character and her backstory and didn't think they were overrated. However, alot of you found this Kate episode at least decent, while I found it as not engaging at all. I think we got some thing useful out of it (the thing with her dad) even though we weren't asking for it and it was never alluded to.

I don't know what it was but it felt like it was an episode from Season 1. The kind of good, but a little uneven episodes that revolved more around how the flashbacks dictate the story and not the other way around.

That's all excluding the hatch stuff... that shit's fucking great!
I also realized (and probably posted) after the Orientation episode that there wwas missing footage on the tape, but I could have sworn it was in more than one place! Although it didn't really cause any big revelation I think everyone absolutely loved it because now they know they're heading towards something still bigger or more interesting with it.

Eko is great and next week's episode looks fantastic (if it si next week) but I just find it VERY weird when he and Locke are in the same room together. they're both so much alike in their faith/character I feel like the TV is going to explode from the untalked about tension.chemistry that's on fire when they're both in a scene together.

As for Ana-Lucia... I still don't know why everyone completely hates her. I just re-watched last week's epsiode (on my iPod  ) and I liked it even more (deinitely among the top 2/3 of the season, which hasn;t progressed too far). Her acting isn't really as bad as I thought it was and I never thought it was bad, just not on par with the rest of the cast.

It's weird how they didn't adress the Jack and Ana-Lucia connection AT ALL. I thought last week's episode ended like a mini cliff-hanger with the two seeing each other again. But this episode started with Jack, back in the Hatch!
Did they know each other before?? I first dismissed this idea completely when it was brough up by a poster, but (and I still don't think it's the case) I think there is a slight possibility.
I rewatched the scene when Eko says Ana-Lucia's name to Jack and carefully observed his reaction. There definitely could be something there, more than it seems. But it just still feels like the reaction I would expect if he had only seen her those few minutes before boarding.
However, their little chat towards the end of this episode also really makes their relationship to be very ambiguous. Could she have been related to something in his wife's story (as in what happened to her?). I still think it's highly unlikely, but GOOD observation.

Kate/Jack kiss

I really wouldn't look too much into it, if I were anyone. I think it's a bit clear that she just kissed him to see if she sees her real father in him like she said she does when she thinks about Sawyer. Kate and Sawyer make a FAAAAR better pairing than Jack and Kate for several reasons. Among them.... Jack would never really go for someone like Kate. Second, Sawyer and Kate's relationship will never be cut and dry; there's way too many obstaclles in the way including both their characters. They're both so much alike and so lonely that they are perfect for each other; but it's not in either of their characters to be in that kind fo relationship. It's so complicated and that's what makes so incredibly intriguing and way more interesting than bland Jack and Kate.

so what's the epsisode airing schedule???

next weeks episode is a repeat of Everybody Hates Hugo.

the next new episode will be on Jan. 11, called The 23rd Psalm. It's a Mr. Eko episode.

Okay, just saw it................................

I was majorly, MAJORLY, MAJORLY disappointed by Kate's story. I just can't stress it enough. I agree with andaroo 100% on that I was expecting something "big" for her crime. I mean, at the end, it was something that forced her to change her identities all the time, and change her looks andthis marshall apparently followed her all around the world, all the way to Australia just because he killed her abusive father, for something that happens on weekly basis in the world. That was certainly the last thing I expected and knowing how much my friends here are looking forward to Kate's revelation about her past, I am very certain they will hate this backstory.

That said, it was a decent episode otherwise. I was the first one here who declared Eko for his favorite character here and this eposde just has proven once again why I think so. His interaction with Locke is brilliant and I loved the moment when Eko told Locke not to mistake coincidence for fate.

Also, I, for one, did not expect Kate to blow up the house to kill her father. Not the entire house...So I did like that part, a lot. It came surprising to me.

Just as the ending with Walkt replying. Didn't see that much coming either although I knew of course, it'd be some weird thing happening.

Also, what's up with the horse?!

Decent epidose with some outstanding moments and a lame backstory.

I liked Eko as usual, someone who can stand up to Locke on Locke's own spiritual/philosophical turf. The horses made me wonder if that's a sign their memories have been tampered with.

Over on AICN someone mentioned in a talkback an important point from last season that I'd forgotten. Remember when Sayid left the camp and found the french woman? He also found this big cable going out of the forest and into the ocean. How could they not be curious and wonder where that cable is heading to, maybe try to pull it up or swim down and check it out or *something*.

The reason Eko is interesting is that he and Locke and Jack make up an extremely interesting theological triangle.

I think everybody likes Eko because he is very... internal and that he seems rather unwavering.

Locke is going through an interesting morph. He's really no longer the survivalist, he's starting to give into the idea that there may be something much less mystical about the island. He's becoming more of the everyman, while Jack goes deeper and deeper into denial/skeptsism and Eko enters as a strong, religious and calm.

I agree with those who say that kate's crime, while a serious one, was not on the level of the way they were treating her, as if she was some hyper dangerous, well trained time bomb.

I think Locke has really lost some of the fascination that surrounded him in the first season.

I think Locke has really lost some of the fascination that surrounded him in the first season.

A couple of reasons I think. One is that the actor lost weight and it left him looking old and wrinkled, it might sound superficial but he looked different early on and better in a way even if a little bit chunkier. Also, he's become sort of lazy. When was the last time he went hunting? The middle of last season or so? That was his big thing, what he added to the group.

Him being a hunter added to his mistique, he was the guy who went out into the woods that everyone feared.

Gah I hate editing typos during this lagtastic period for the forums.
