Jarhead has a much better chance of being #1 that weekend then Chicken Little does of coming within 100 million of Harry Potter 4.

Well obviously HP4 will make more than Chicken Little - Im tracking HP4 to finish around $245-$255m. However, I dont think the thread is as laughable as people make out. Chicken Little is the first major kid/family flick since - what?? Madagascar? Corpse Bride and Wallace and Gromit are more adult orientated - this one is for the kids. I can see it doing Ice Age numbers.
HP4 - $250m
Chicken Little - $180m

It'll fall $75m short of topping Harry Four.

WTF, how on earth can you guys posibly expect a film like chicken little to top a film of one of th e biggest franchises of all time, huuh how on earth would you not be surprised by it
Bottom line, this film is not topping Potter 4, Potter 4 is a garanteed 250m+ smash and nothing is going to stop it from getting there, not even a little chicken.

Personally, I don't think Harry Potter 4 is gonna be the huge success everyone thinks it will be. I see it making about 190 million.
Chicken Little, on the other hand, is a bit of a mystery. It has the potential to be just a solid Lilo and Stitch sized hit, but if it's half as good as The Emperor's New Groove, expect word of mouth to be huge, and box office to soar.
More than anything though, I'd just like Disney to be on top again.

Chicken Little has all the potential of only being loved by 4 year olds. I agree it will bust out somewhere in the 150m-190m range, my projected top out is 188m (chicken little prediction thread), I just think you are under estimating Potter 4 in a big way. BJs says 280m+ for Potter 4.

Snrub, HOW could it make 190 million though? With a very lame Thanksgiving lineup it will be saved from the nasty drop that killed Harry Potter 3's legs. It really can't have any lower then a 2.7-2.8 multiplier unless it gets critically reviled. Even if it did get worse, it'd need to open around 70-75 million tops to go that low.

Well, I think it's possible for it to go that low, but I admit there's a chance it could go higher. I'd be willing to up my prediction to, say, $200-210 million total.

Oh give me a break this has to be the weirdest prediction I have ever heard of. Now lets face facts yeah Chicken little will make some money no doubt about that hell it might I stress might make it to 200 million. However It won't make more than 50 Million on its opening Weekend something Harry could double on it's opening weekend.

I agree, and I am rooting for Chicken Little to do well. I think it will be the hit animated film disney hasn't had in some time, but beat Potter? No way.

I kind of think $190 is a huge success, if you ask me.
As the Potter kids grow older, I am hoping that the films will appeal more to teens, thus building the audience a bit.
I would like Disney to be on top again too (especially cause I own stock) but wishing won't make it so. Emperor was not a hit, after all, no matter how good it was. Disney has hopefully learned and is certainly pushing this film more, so it should do a lot better than Emperor but that's not saying much.
