ratings demand it.

like Kate coming out of the shower plus dropping things / bending over, in a towel.

also agree with others that this was a good episode.

It's funny... it seems ALOT of people are more character/morals-centered than plot centered. When we have huge reveal episodes we have split audiences, but a simple episode like this in which nothing is really furthered, everyone agrees and likes because it was more centered around personal character exploration and searching for emotions and acting as a society!

I did like the episode, yes. I won't be the rotten apple in the bunch ;)

I thought it was an okay episode until the 3rd quarter mark hit, it started getting really good. Hurley's acting is so sincere and true to what I might actually expect someone like that act if I were starnded with him (and everyone ese) on the island.

I also loved how just about everybody got screen time in tis episode (was anyone missing?) and how Jack, Kate, and Locke were barely in it. Dont get me wrong.... Kate and Locke are my two favorite characters, but you know what I mean.... switching the focus!!

I'll have more later.... I'm so tired and still have a bunch of homework to read and do before I sleep. It's 12:15am....

Calling it right now: Those "others" at the preview for the next episode are going to be the other survivors from the plane. Methinks that's why they had the intricate knocking, it's a Lord of the Flies type of thing. That's why there used to be 23 of them, and why they had that trap.

There were 23 survivors in the tail section, and I believe there is 42 left from the mid section, right? Hmmm.... sounds familiar.

An ok episode, Hugo is the best character on the show anyway. Lost could use more montages though, perhaps with soft music.

Actually, I think there were 48. 4 died and then 4 set out of the raft, hence the 40.

I thought 5 of them died. The marshal, the girl who drowned that Boone and Jack tried to save, Scott, Boone, and Arzt.

It crossed my mind, I felt they were trying to make us think might be, whether they are or not.

Bernard is alive!

It was a good ending but I think we already knew he was alive ever since the episode last season when Michele Rodriguez said to Jack in a flashback that she was in 42F.

And why their teeth aren't all yellow, why they don't have rashes and skin diseases, why none have suffered serious injuries other than Boone. But I'm glad it's how it is, we want a certain amount of realism but not too much.

Except Claire always seems to have lipstick on and other makeup. All the actresses do of course but they have it done in a natural way so it isn't obvious, with Claire it is obvious. :)

But they actually revealed as much or more in this episode than in the last one. The tunnel below, the tail section folks having discovered the bunker too, the amount of tail people, and other little things. The last two episodes were good but frustrating in hindsight because they never really explained anything about Desmond, he seemed very much like a deus ex machina to move the plot along, he didn't seem real. Though I did like the actor playing Desmond, he was good.

exactly, who would want to watch ugly people?

you can (and do) see ugly/less attractive people everyday in real life, and tv/movies are an escape from reality.
there are islands where crazy things always happen and vampire slayers and westerns in space and vampire private investigators and double agents that are pregnant and crazy families with chicken dances and tons more, and would you really want to watch a bunch of ugly people in those shows?

People are talking about physical appearance not really being reality? How about the rest of the show? There aint much reality to it, it's a tv show. I think I can belive people arent getting yellow teeth and not growing 10ft beards more then a bunch of people surviving a horrific plane crash then all end up on an island filled with polar bears, crazy guy in a hatch talking about the world ending if you dont push a button, and other things of that matter ;)

I wish I hadn't quoted and replied to the bit about appearances, it got everything onto an irrelevant sidetrack...

Yeah, while having the flashbacks be centered on a similar theme that the episode posesses may be a good idea, it ceases to be so great when the flashbacks don't tell us anything new. I haven't learned anything about any of the survivors that I didn't already from these, no big mysteries have been illuminated from them. They just keep feeling... unnessecary, like filler.

Brilliant episode. I even shed a little tear when Bernard asked about Rose.

I'm glad this season seems to be giving us more development each episode, it actually feels like we're heading towards some form of resolution - something lacking in the last season. It finally feels as though we're heading somewhere, though I suspect the developments will tail off soon to make way for more nothing episodes mid-season.

On a side note, Sawyer's now my absolute favourite character. "You first" was a glorious comeback.

Ya... I loved it in the beginning when both Jin and Micheal got out and she closed the opening while Sawyer was talking. The screen went black and then you hear Sawyer mutter: "Bitch"

I'm as surprised as you. There I was, pumping my guns and having sex with like three hookers all at once - as I usually do in my downtime - when I happened to glance over at my TV and see Bernard getting all weepy eyed and shit. I let a few manly tears drop, killed two of the hookers and continued to pump both my guns and the remaining hooker. No biggy.

I especially loved the whole "You hit me again, I'll kill you". I mean, you just know he isn't lying.

You're right, the flashback scenes are kinda unnececary, like this weeks flashback didnt add anything to the show, they're are basically fillers. What I think would be more interesting is to see flashbacks of the people on the island that dont get much screen time, get to know them a bit.

A decent episode that is still not up to the heights of the great episodes of the first season, but I was content, basically because after one decent and two disapponting episodes I didn't have my hopes too much up. The dream sequence of Hurley was great, DJ Qualls (who I usually dislike) had a neat cameo and Sawyer was great as usual. The flashbacks in general, were once again pretty useless and I am still not sure whether Hurley is just a good guy or an idiot.... But it was still decent overall. Tjis season is entirely different from the first it seems. Whereas in the first, almost each episode tried to focus on as many characters as possible, in this one each episode focuses or a more limited number of characters. I have a feeling, though that this whole slow build-up will lead to some big bang in about 3-4 episodes.
