Ugh, all this success for ABC kills me. They do have a great show with Lost, though...their only decent show besides Grey's Anatomy. Still good for Earl, and last night's episode was hilarious again.

Ouch Earl, but it'll survive. NBC is in such a dumb heap. They need some new shows, shows with actual creativity. Not a Martha Stewart Apprentice knockoff. Not Surface. They're looking at 4th for sure.

Ummm.. okay you're obviously going a little further to prove your point and I will somewhat give in.
Yes, it is more impressive that Boston Legal still holds on to 12.5m viewers after a 16.5m rated show when it used to do 13+ m viewers after a 23-25+m rated show (I want to find some actual ratings, cuz I think it might have been closer to 14m) and while the new post Housewives (28m rated) show is pulling in 19m viewers.
Basically Boston Legal lost 24-25% of Chief's viewers.
And Grey's Anatomy lost 32-33% of Housewives' viewers.
Then again, there are alot of other factors going into it....
Still, Grey's Anatomy is doing 4-5+ million viewers better than Boston Legal did in the same timeslot.
12.5 million is still considerably lower (even if percentage wise it's better) than 19 million viewers (and that is what matters).
But there is one thing that matters even more than viewers and that's the 18-49 demo. There is no doubt that Boston Legal rates CONSIDERABLY lower than Grey's Anatomy in the all important demographic. ABC wins the 18-49 demo by a landslide on Sundays (yes, mostly due to housewives, which feeds into anatomy [and might I note would have been less if Legal was still in the same slot]) while Boston Legal's night draws not a second or third but a apltry 4th place in the 18-49 demo.
Plus, you could strongly argue that being placed after Housewives and given The Practice's old timeslot, Boston Legal gained more than it could have anywhere else and because of that gain or initial surge of viewers after Housewives, Boston LEgal has now a bigger core audience than it would have had it been placed at any other timeslot in its debut.
Bottom Line: Yes, it is more impressive that Boston Legal only dropped around 1-1.5 million viewers going from a post 25m viewer show to a post 16.5m viewer show while Grey's Anatomy drops consideredably more (5+ million viewers after housewives) BUT nontheless, Grey's Anatomy does garner more viewers than Boston Legal in different timeslots as well as the same!

They were complete morons to have it scheduled against LOST. They were also morons not to have the first season on DVD before the premiere of the second and to not air the episodes in order this summer so people who missed it could see what they were missing. I pray it does respectable enough ratings though and isn't completely eaten alive by LOST. People who watch both shows and have ratings things in their house should record LOST and watch VERONICA MARS because obviously LOST doesn't need the viewers like this does. UPN just needs to keep it around because eventually it will catch on and should increase in ratings each year. Some shows just need proper care and patience.

UPN moved it to the time slot so it could reap the benefits of America's Next Top Model.
Tuesday at 9 would probably actually be worse, considering the intense competition of the hour. Look how horribly Sex, Love and Secrets did.

If they were really behind the show they could put it with Chris, but they won't.

A show like that?
You mean one of the seasons most hyped shows? and best reviewed too?
oh and a really good one too
i don't really think it's surprising. the question is wether it'll be able to keep the ratings at that level in the weeks to come (my guess, yes)

I think they have even another hit coming up as well: Freddie. I expect it to be a hit with the audience. For sitcoms it'll most likely beat the hell out of Still Standing, According to Jim, Rodney last year.

Looks like all reality shows have taken a hit. Maybe some people are actually sick of them, even the best ones?

It can't possibly be any worse than any of the ones you listed. "Still Standing" is one of the worst sitcoms on TV.

As soon as FREDDIE was announced I thought it wouldn't even make it through 1 season. I doubt it will be a huge hit.
And I guess you might be right about VERONICA MARS. We'll see. I do think there were better spots for it. I just hope it does solid enough this season.

I've been thinking it was pretty much a lock for cancellation.
But recently ive been thinking...being placed between george lopez and lost. not a bad idea. we all saw what airing before american idol did for that 70s show.

I actually usually enjoy STILL STANDING . I guess it's a guilty pleasure. I haven't been watching it this season though but I'll catch it in the reruns during the summer and hope that it continues to do well so it stays on the air.
