Is that before or after Eric got his pilot license and ended up going missing with the rest of the guys on "Lost"? I think that's before... cause immediately after, Keri Russell as Felicity comes on the show and causes major trouble for Sydney and her alien sister, Nadia. Oops... another spoiler there.

But Alias got snubbed a year after year for Thw West Wing. It was never a stand-out show in my book.
Alias has a leigon of rabid fans for a reason.
I always assumed it was some stupid scifi 24 like show [i quickly tired of 24 after the first half of season one, even though i still find it quite gripping and enjoy the show, it just feels like a task to watch sometimes] and i really didnt have any interest in the genre until i actually watched an episode [by accident]. I swear to you - if theres ever an Alias hater i lend them one dvd and they practically jump me to borrow the first three seasons
I dont exactly get why The Emmys love The West Wing so much. Perhaps presitege is the sole motive

I read on the Emmy site that the nominations will be announced via live webcast on Thursday. I surely hope it's clear and all. I don't want this...
"And the nominees for Best Drama Series are..."

For some reason I really can't wait!
I hope LOST gets Drama.
And I know it's an extreme long-shot, but I'm hoping so much that Jack and Bobby gets something else with Christine Lahti's nod (if she's nominated) just to show WB what a mistake it was to cancel the show!

Well, in about eight and a half hours, the Emmy nominations will be announced. Of course, East Coasters are lucky that it's already 8:30 AM there while we in the West Coast (where the nominations are announced, in North Hollywood) are still sucking our thumbs while curled up in the fetal position. Meh. Knowing myself, I'm probably gonna be awake just for that.
I have a slight feeling that a couple of shows (Scrubs, Gilmore Girls, Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck) can get some well-deserved attention seeing that there are a lot of openings in the nominations.
I will personally throw something at my TV if I see The West Wing and Will and Grace get top series honors as well as get multiple acting nominations.

But Will and Grace is SOO GOOD. Even though its ratings are slipping like Liza Manelli on ice, its still one of the best sitcoms out there.

EEEW nevermind... only Scrubs got the well-deserved recognition it sooooo should've been getting. YAY!
Will and Grace got 15 nominations.... the same number as desperate Housewives, which I predicted to get far more.
What does 24 need to do to get any of its supporting actors/actresses nominated? ACK, no Shohreh! Instead they nominated Blythe Danner... ugh. Blythe Danner got THREE nominations, BTW... which goes to show the clout of Meet The Fockers, hehe.
At least Lost got Drama Series, and two supporting nominations. Two supporting nominations for Two and a Half Men as well.

Where did all this love for Huff come from? I've only heard of it once and it's gotten everything! Also, Naveen Andrews for Lost? I mean, he's good, but I think Josh Holloway and even Dominic Monaghan are better. I'm pretty pissed at some of these. I WANT VICTOR GARBER DAMNIT! It was his best season yet!

Why didn't TerrorMom get a nomination? That saddens me, she should give all emmy voters a cup of tea to straighten them out. Pleased that 24 got nominations for show and Keifer, I think this year is his best shot to win it.
I'm surprised that neither of the lead actors (AJ, MS) got nominated for The West Wing, especially since the show got nominated, and Stockard Channing did as well. Not surprised that Alda got a nomination.
Really glad that Terry O'Quinn got nominated, of all the people on Lost I think he's the standout, a bit surprised about Naveen but he does good work as well.
Supporting actress in a Comedy will be my favourite category. Berta and Evelyn from 2.5Men! But also Lucille from AD, It's going to be a tough one. Really pulling for Sandra Oh in the Sup. Drama category, should be a good Emmy Awards.

"24" got 11 nominations. That's quite awesome. I'm glad for the show and for Kiefer Sutherland, who really deserves to win it this year.

I was surprised at all the love for Huff, too. Especially Blythe Danner, who is good, but not that great. (Paget Brewster is better.) Hank Azaria deserved it, though. He's fantastic in the show.

I was pleasantly surprised by a lot of these nominations. No outpours of love for The West Wing, and two extremely well-deserved nominations for Holland Taylor and Conchata Ferrell of Two and a Half Men.

Those two nominations surprised me the most. I was kinda suspecting that Taylor would sneak in, but who would have even considerd Ferrell? I don't think anyone even mentioned her. They both are great, though. I'm actually hoping Taylor pulls off a win.

I loved Conchata Ferrell eversince her stint on L.A. Law!
Her and Lupe Ontiveros are two of my favorite character actresses.

Finally the critics recognise people are no longer hypnotised by the gloss of The West Wing.
Yet im continously amazed at how the Emmys find ways of nominating shows far inferior to Alias in categories where Alias excells; yet 24 gets nominated for various categories where Alias is better - and vice versa. Why does 24 get such recognition when the show is recyling the same formulae its always used? Alias has at least creative new narrative techniques and presentation formats for the show. Theres some kind of stigma around nominating a show which is *gasp* entertaining. Desperate Housewives mass cultural impact meant that they knew voting for it would make the Emmy's more popular - but elsewhere is meh. Lost seems to be poaching a lot of Alias' former terrotories.
Nice that Zack Braff is up for best actor and does Jennifer Garner's 4th?! nomiantion make her one the most consec nominated drama actress ever? I mean; Alison Janney FINALLY fell out of the category that she always whupped Garner IN.
Whats the bets that they give it to Glenn Close or Francis?
I cant believe Lena Olin didnt get best guest star

24 rocks the socks off of any show.
Instead of fighting over 24 and Alias, can't we agree that 15 nominations for Will and Grace is a little... overboard?

Then again Michael, Alias has gone back to its 1st season roots. Isn't that recycling old formulas?

Well, maybe, but I'm sure Angela Lansbury holds the record. 12 nominations and no wins in Best Actress-Drama (6 other noms, no wins). Jane Kaczmarek has 5 nods, no wins. Julianna Margulies has 4 nods in Lead, no win (But a win in Supporting). I'm sure there are more if you go back a little ways.

Well, they did have over 11,000 guest stars this season.

I'm still waiting for Jesus to guest star. Otherwise, I really don't care who the hell is pretending to be gay on Will and Grace.

Alias has re-invented its original formula in spectacular style.
24 Continues to invest its hopes and future in a tired "realtime" system which i just fail to be impressed by once the novelty wore off - ive not watched an episode for quite some time now.
Alias - Lena Olin does actually beat any guest stars on WIll and Grace.
Failing to even aknowledge Gina Torres as Anna Espinisoa just needs a slap.
They bring older actresses into stunning roles with amazing storylines - the actresses give these perfect performances and instead the academy nominates some shit for ER; proving once again that they can be bought by a marketing campaign and some freebies.

That argument against "24" can be applied to anything. "24" IS real-time. It's like saying Will and Grace continues to invest its hopes into being really, really flamingly gay. Or that The Daily Show continues to invest its hopes in being a satire on news shows. Without the real-time, it's not "24".
