And yes, 2021's Top 50 will presumably be:

25 spots for Demon Slayer (Vols. 1-23 plus Gaiden and Fanbook #2)
19-21 spots for Jujutsu Kaisen (Depends on how many volumes are released this year plus Vol. 0 and maybe Fanbook #1)
3-4 spots for One Piece (Depends on if it gets to 4 releases this year)

So that only leaves potentially 1 single spot left in the Top 50 for something else, presumably going to Attack on Titan's final volume. Best-case for everything else, there will be 3 spots left in the Top 50 to fight over, likely going to the final Attack on Titan volume and probably 2 Spy x Family volumes.

There are two factors that could have a play in the Attack on Titan vs Spy x Family battle for the last spot(s)

1- How much Spy x Family will keep growing this year. It has obviously slowed down from last year, but that doesn't tell us how it'll behave for the coming 8 months +

2- How big the final limited edition for Attack on Titan will be. It could go either way imo. It'll depend on how many units will be printed obviously, but I feel like they could make the choice to print more limited editions than usual, which would hurt Attack on Titan's chances of taking that final spot.

A 3rd element to remember, though much less likely, is Kaiju No. 8. It sold 100k in January, and 100k in February (more or less), for a total of 500k in three months. If these crazy sales keep up, the last spot might be reachable.

And there are obviously other things that we can't predict at all (a new JJK/KnY level boost out of nowhere this spring/this summer, for exemple)

I also read that domain names for Spy x Family have been created, suggesting the anime announcement is coming up later this year. I don't know if the anime's debut will occur this year, but it could provide the manga series with a bit of a boost.

Also, we might be ruling out Chainsaw Man too early. I think its anime adaptation is likely to debut later this year, and if it's a hit among viewers while its airing to provide the manga with a sales boost, then its first volume could come into play. A lot has to go right here, especially since the series is already finished, but you never know. The industry has changed a lot over the past couple of years.

JJK is catching up real fast and DS has slowed down but just selling over 5 million copies per volume is a feat. And Just Volume 1 to still reach 779k sales is insane

Now that the Demon Slayer volumes are not charting anymore, it's harder to make estimates for the volume ranking. Considering the Half-Year ranking is coming soon, I won't update the volume top 50 for May.

Thank you Rouk'.

Do you think KNY's volume 1-22 have reached the milestone of 1 million each in Oricon 2021 yet?

They haven't.
KnY total for the year is, so far, 26.2m.
Volume 23 has sold at least 5.5m units (Simple + Limited Edition)
That leaves less than 22m units for the other volumes, meaning not all of them have reached 1 million each.

That first semester looks stronger than 2020 first half-year in terms of selling. Guess top 50 won't be full of Tokyo Revengers volumes yet so might be interesting even there's KnY and JjK... 42 spots with fanbooks/gaiden ? xD Will CsM even be there with its lasts volumes ?! It shouldn't.
Maybe Oricon will extends charts ?

A very rough year for One Piece. The Promised Neverland and Haikyu!! still managed to stay in Top 10.

One Piece (should be aiming for ~6.5 million), My Hero Academia (perhaps aiming for ~5-5.5 million), and Spy x Family (should break 5 million, but not sure how much more) will likely join by year's end.

Chainsaw Man is also pretty close (at ~4.69 million), but selling another 300,000+ is difficult in its current state. And looks like the anime is releasing in 2022, so it won't get a backlog bump from it unitil then. Still, it's close enough where it could hit the mark. Maybe Rouk' knows more of what it's doing weekly right now to give a better idea of the chances.

And I'm going to assume Kingdom will as well, although its backlog sales look to have slowed down quite a bit this year and looks very iffy right now. Not unusual for a long-running series to slow down due to mostly relying on the sales of the most recent volume, it's just more of a sudden occurrence than a more gradual one.

MHA is likely trending for 6.5-7M or even a bit above that as of now depending on how it holds in the coming weeks. It has 2 more volumes for the year as of that chart (one of which came out last week, the other in october) and its backlog is trending pretty well, and looking at dailies it is going to be very strong in the coming weeks thanks to the movie doing way better than the usual MHA movie. Good chances it beats one piece this year and scores its best year yet.

Spy x family...next volume releases on november 4, which will give it 3 weeks for this year. Should be around 800k (last volume managed 795k within that timeframe). Last week was ~55k. Needs around 24k avg for the next 15 weeks, so this one is a pretty easy yes, probably ending in the ~5-2-5.4M range.

As for chainsaw man, two weeks ago it was at 57k, and an estimation off shoseki top500 would put it at ~55k for last week. Seeing as it only needs to average around 17k for the remaining weeks of the year 5M is pretty much locked, with a finish probably around ~5.3M.

Kingdom probably won't be reaching that mark this year. Even assuming volume 63 releases october to make the year I think it'd probably still miss the mark, more likely ending in the high 4M (around ~4.8M would be my guess), or a few hundred thousands less if it ends up releasing november, more likely ~4.4-4.5M. So unless something happens to change the tide and boost its backlog, that's not going to happen imho.

Overall looking like a very strong year, TR will probably comfortably finish 6th on the all time list, though it doesnt look like anything can pass OP 2010 (JJK will come pretty close but doesnt look like it has quite enough to get there).

Post Re: Yearly Manga Sales By Series and Volume 2021
2021 is very strong, indeed. It's already the ONLY year to ever have 3 series exceed 10 million (and every milestone above that). And it'll end up having 3 entries in the all-time Top 6. One over 30 million, one near 30 million, and one over 20 million (maybe even 25 million). Very bonkers.

Good to hear MHA is looking strong again. I also think I read it may be entering its climax pretty soon (I'm usually 2-3 volumes or 20-30 chapters behind, so try to avoid spoilers), so that could be a reason for future sales to remain stable/strong too.

Tokyo Revengers will also record the biggest year ever for a Kodansha release, besting Attack on Titan in 2013. And pretty comfortably as well. I have not read or watched any of it yet, but just looking at some of the images from news reports and such, it doesn't strike me as your typical fantasy/sci-fi-action heavy Shonen. I'll wait until season one finishes and watch it then. Could be wrong of course, just the impression I get from the images I've seen. This would be more evidence on how the manga industry has expanded to new audiences in recent years.

It's a delinquent series with a

time travel

gimmick. I'm spoiling it even though it's not really much of a spoiler (it's in the first pages) just in case.

Genre has been majorly out of fashion in recent years but perhaps experiencing a bit of a return to popularity now. Wind Breaker, a new delinquent series that started recently on MagaPoke, has had a solid debut and growth despite being constantly plagued with stock issues.
