Greenland is a 2020 American disaster film directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Chris Sparling. The film stars Gerard Butler (who also co-produced), Morena Baccarin, Roger Dale Floyd, Scott Glenn, David Denman, and Hope Davis. The film follows a family who must fight for survival as a planet-destroying comet races to Earth.

Originally scheduled to be theatrically released on June 12, 2020 in the United States, Greenland was delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is scheduled to be released domestically by STX Entertainment through video on demand on December 18, 2020, and then play on HBO Max. It was still released theatrically in other territories, beginning with Belgium on July 29, 2020

Its not bad but that does not mean its good. There is hardly any disaster worth scenes but it explores the chaos and the generic tropes of a family trapped amidst this chaos. Lots of things are going around and the separation of the family in three different parts is handled nicely but once they get together and the finale approaches the director seems incapable to handle a disaster scenes while telling compelling story. The flashbacks of the happy family added here to add the emotional heft takes you out of the movie (also mostly in second half). I really loved how it started but if it could have handled the end well this could have been great. In Greenland we get another been-there-done-that disaster movie.

I thought this was pretty good, but nothing special. Solid performances from Gerard Butler and Morena Baccrin, but its definitely more of a drama than a disaster movie and that took me out of it at times honestly. I just wanted way more disaster/action sequences, but the dramatic scenes are effective enough and its well acted/directed overall.

Yeah, I don't really disagree with the above posts. I liked it, Butler and Baccarin are both quite good and it's tense in the race to shelter before the end of the world. But it's relatively small scale for a world altering disaster film, it clearly focuses on the unit of family and it just partially works for me. The special effects could've been better and it's like neither a great disaster film or family drama, but I'm content with how it blends them together.

Uh, this was surprisingly great? For what it is it works totally well and both Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin are great. I did think the first act was better than the second, it was incredibly intense and I was on the edge of my seat. But this really worked for me. A huge surprise. B+

Greenland has all the disaster movie cheese without any of the destruction porn. Wtf was the point?

Also, this was one of the most annoying kids in cinematic history.
