Re: New music / What do you think?
Following "Dynamite", I checked out some of BTS' old work and enjoyed some of their earlier stuff. Good, catchy pop.
"Be" is not a good album. "Life Goes On" is disappointing. It's a departure from their previous stuff, which is fine, but it also continues their 2020 trend of leaning more and more heavily into autotune. I get that tuning is a thing that happens on studio recordings, and sometimes it works as a stylistic effect, but it doesn't work here. The latter part of "Life Goes On" is especially jarring, because the singing barely sounds like it came from humans.
"Stay" is the most basic EDM trash I've heard in ages.

Already being the artist of the year wasn't good enough, so Lili just had to drop another smash before 2020 ended.

Had a good find on New Music Friday - Maggie Lindemann
She has Gaslight which is this Charli XCX like sound
But also Knife Under My Pillow which is quite Paramorish, grrrl power

For me, these songs are really new! I haven't heard this performer before, but the songs sound really cool! How long will her success last? I do not know. Unfortunately, many talented and interesting performers very quickly disappear from the stage and become uninteresting.

New track released earlier this week. Slightly edges out Use My Voice as my favorite from the album so far, I think. New album finally being released in 2 weeks.

Re: New music / What do you think?
The Birthday Massacre re-recorded their cover of The NeverEnding Story and released it today!
I don't think anyone knows of them here (except maybe Flava'd, as he listens to a LOT), but this is a big deal for early fans, like myself, since this was one of their first recorded songs back 20 years(+) ago in 2000/2001. The original cover was never released outside of file sharing networks as a low-quality mp3 from way back in the day, so this was certainly welcomed surprise to get a re-recording after all this time.

Re: New music / What do you think?
Finally got around to listening to The Chick's newest album, Gaslighter. It's pretty great. Definitely one of my favorite albums of last year. Glad it was met with strong reviews and good sales (for the times) too. They deserve it.

Bitter Truth is good. Broken Pieces Shine was my favorite track on first listen.

Lil Nas X's new song is great. The video is nuts, happy he feels comfortable releasing something like that.

It's good, but it's hard to ignore the mixing. It was present when they released Better Without You ahead of the album, but there are a lot of songs where the music (drums, in particular) drown out the vocals. There's a frequent struggle where the vocals are always trying to match the music volume.
But it's a good album, easy to listen through it all. Broken Pieces Shine, Feeding the Dark, Use My Voice, Better Without You, Wasted On You, and Blind Belief are my top picks.
