It's broken practically every record up to this point besides a couple weekend records (8th and 10th). There aren't any more records to really seek other than the remaining weekend records for the remainder of its run, and longevity-themed records like aiming to achieve the most weeks in the Top 5/10 and such. That's one record that might still fall in the future even with the declining population. In fact perhaps the declining population will make it easier to achieve depending on movie going habits ? Which age group sees the most movies per year in Japan on average ? Children ? Teenagers ? Middle age people ? The elderly ?

I think middle age audience is the biggest movie goers group In absolute terms, obviously, but I was wondering in per capita terms. If the average elderly sees more movies per year than the average middle age man/woman, then the ageing of the population will make it easier to break that record.

This makes Demon Slayer breaking the record even more impressive given the ageing of the Japanese population since 1965. The median age back then was 27.2 vs 48.4 today (and forecasted to be 54.7 in 2050).

Regarding Friday, we all need to just wait and refrain from trying to predict things too much. Walk-ups are generally good during holidays, and in addition to Friday being a holiday, it's also a discount day. And in Demon Slayer's case, given its numbers have been so high, it'll naturally be more difficult for it to achieve bigger Friday jump than most of the other films in release. All that said, COVID cases have been rising, and in my opinion, are nearing levels that could begin to impact the box office here soon.
