Post Re: Japan Box-Office: Weekend Actuals (12/19-20)
All-Time Most Attended Films/Population Comparison (10 Million Admissions+):

% of Pop, (Film's Admissions/Japan's Population) - Film (Year)
19.72% (19.50 million/x98.88 million) - Tokyo Olympiad (1965)
18.55% (23,34 million/125.79 million*) - Demon Slayer: Mugen Train (2020) *69-Day Est.*
18.48% (23.50 million/127.13 million) - Spirited Away (2001)
15.76% (20.03 million/127.08 million) - Frozen (2014)

I believe here Demon Slayer passed Spirited Away on Tuesday, but I realized that now.

@Corpse, where could Demon Slayer's 11th Saturday be in the highest saturday presales ? around 100k ?
And I had another question, even if it's not lock but very likely do you think Demon Slayer could surpass ¥35Bn before Spirited Away surpassed ¥25Bn (104 days) ?

I just checked Charlie Jat's predictions, he plans $8M on Saturday and $5M on Sunday, that would be 3.5 times more than last weekend, is that possible according to you ?

I'm expecting Saturday's presales will be above 100,000.

I'm also expecting the Saturday, and weekend, to come pretty close to the ninth Saturday and weekend. Admissions may be a fair bit lower, but the much higher average ticket price it'll have from every 4DX showing being sold out is going to offset that in terms of revenue.

And yes, it has a good chance of doing ¥35 billion before then.

USD records are subjective due to exchange rates, and mean very little, but Demon Slayer has become the first film to ever gross $300 million in the market.

It's possible, but don't consider it on the table or actually likely. Set the goal for ¥700 million+.

It's actually up 50%, not 150%. When the percentage of ticket sales reaches 100%, it means that a film has sold 100% OF the ticket sales of the same day last week, and anything over that is what it's up. Doraemon's not up 387%, for example, but instead "just" 287%.

Simple rule is to take 100% off any increases over 100%. 101% = a 1% increase, 150% = 50% increase, 300% = 200% increase, 1,000% = 900% increase.

These percentages will gradually come down in the evening though. They're largely up right now because most schools are now out, which greatly inflates the morning/afternoon showings.

And these are small increases ahead of the actual holiday period. Just wait until Monday onward.

Just wanted to clarify the wording here for other readers here who aren't checking Mimorin. Demon Slayer is currently at 150% of last Friday so that's a 50% increase.

EDIT: Corpse already addressed this.
