charlie jat wrote: I won't be looking at day growth tbh. Let's begin with the note that number it is doing every day, there's no doubt they are great.
Now coming to the part, this will be having a 24% weekly drop if usual locs is around 285k. Now that's coming from a deflated Sunday last week from strong Saturday. This Sunday is acting as super Saturday with night show strong as Saturday and morning strong as Sunday.
So in real value Sunday drop is perhaps 35% Approx. Saying this because, we may see a Tuesday drop around 40%, so don't panic then.
I was thinking of ¥2.1Bn week, but more like ¥2Bn is likely now. That said it still is good enough to reach ¥35Bn.
Edit: Sunday may be 300k at usual locs, so in above text make changes accordingly. The ¥2,1Bn are still achievable if we see a good Monday tomorrow ? What do you expect from holiday Monday and next weekend ?

I don't make Friday to Thursday, I make Saturday-Friday, the actual week in Japan. Mon-Sun is dumb and don't make much sense trend wise.

It's the second round of the giveaway event, which as we saw with week five and its 14% drop, is going to benefit it greatly. In addition to this, it's almost guaranteed that theaters move it back to their largest screen, and put it back on the majority of the IMAX screens after giving the majority to Doraemon this weekend. There will likely be a 300,000 seat swing or so at the usual locations from Doraemon back to Demon Slayer to get it around 1 million seats again next weekend. (Assuming theaters are still at 100% capacity next weekend.)

There are some missing shows in AEON chain judging from 2pm midday report, sold about 5500 tickets. Maybe it will be fixed soon, but if not, there could be more missing shows in the afternoon

The giveaway events are: Nov. 14th (already over) Nov. 28th Dec. 12th Dec. 26th The first one had a limited print-run of 1.5 million copies. It depends on how they're distributed, but they were more or less gone after four days or so (some locations earlier, some a little later). It hasn't been announced what the other giveaways are yet, or how many are being handed out to customers. Of course, you wouldn't want to make an announcement too early since that'd stall some of the ongoing business as people would hold off going to see it until the next giveaway. They'll likely announce what the second giveaway is, and the number of the limited print-run, on Tuesday.

Although the most recent updates was the biggest of the day yet, and could have been corrected already.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Also, just want to talk about Stand By Me, Doraemon 2 for a minute before I turn in tonight. While it had a very poor Friday (although not totally unexpected), and a mediocre Saturday, it has bounced back quite a bit today. And it should do well tomorrow as well, as family films typically thrive on holiday weekdays.
It's going to open higher than the August release by ~10/15% in admissions, I believe, and thanks to its IMAX release, it'll have a higher average ticket price than a regular Doraemon film. Granted, its IMAX showings have been pretty weak so the boost will be minimal, but it could provide a 5% boost perhaps to its gross this weekend. I think it might still miss opening above ¥500 million, but it should be pretty close and the strong Sunday evening shows today could get it there. We'll have to wait and see, but overall, it's turned around what was looking like a very disappointing opening at the start of the weekend into a fair/good one.
There hasn't really been much to discuss outside of Demon Slayer until now, so for reference when trying to calculate Doraemon: As a film primarily targeting family/children, it'll have a higher share than a normal film outside of the usual locations (family films do well in rural prefectures). So its weekend should come in higher than its performance at the usual locations would normally suggest.

My country also use central train station to promote Demon Slayer which will be released in December. And the ironically is that it didn't have to makeup to look as old as in anime because our central train station already look old, like it has zero improvement from a century ago.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Thinking ¥615mn Sunday and ¥1.06Bn 6th Weekend. Total IMO ¥25.51Bn or $243.59mn.
Internationally
Taiwan $1.5-1.6mn 4th weekend (-42%), Cume $15.9mn. Hong Kong $0.85mn 2nd weekend (-53%), Cume $3.1mn.
Worldwide estimate $263mn or ¥28bn depending on Singapore.

Its numbers (that I have) are estimated based on its USD Varity numbers way back in the day, with various totals being announced in news articles during its run. Not saying the numbers you posted are exactly, just that I've noticed a few that seem unusual. First, its opening weekend should be its week one total since it was a Saturday opener. Second, you have it above ¥15 billion after six weeks, but Eiga says it exceeded ¥14 billion after six weeks. If it was over ¥15 billion, I would think they'd have announced it that way.

NezuKo wrote: When that 18 day holiday would start? From which date? Schools begin Winter Break about a week from New Year, or right around Christmas. And then everyone else, office workers and such, begin their holiday on New Year's Eve/New Year. Since the Government is very likely to approve the New Year extension this year (to avoid travel congestion since New Year and the Bank Holidays occur over the weekend itself), the overall break will be from ~Dec. 25-Jan. 12th.
