Re: Weekend Estimates
I think it will, they have the cast and the box office backing them up. Plus if they're gonna give best picture to Parasite. They need the blockbusters to get those ratings

Re: Weekend Estimates
$519m is the target for TROS but its burning slightly faster than comparable movies (Smaug, TLJ) so I am thinking $510m is where it will end now.

Re: Weekend Estimates
Drops were much better this year than in 2013. More of a holiday effect probably because more people were off all week. Compared to the other movies TROS’s drop is even worse. Without the holidays it would have drops of at least 70% and 60%. It truly is one of the most frontloaded movies ever and the most frontloaded blockbuster.

Re: Weekend Estimates
From here on TROS needs a multiplier of 1.5/2.5 (based on how you calculate) to reach $500m. Most movies that I checked (small sample of 5 movies) got a multiplier of 2 after December holidays. Even with immense frontloading it will still cross $500m with MLK weekend boosting its total in just 2 weeks. Unless it drops another 70% next weekend and does only $10m then sure but as of now it should cross $500m mark. I also believe Disney will keep it in theaters long enough to get it past that mark.
(P.S. I don't think TROS will get the benefit of being "last" in the franchise)

Re: Weekend Estimates
Jumanji is at $236m there is a VERY good chance it does $300m now. That would be a great 75% retention from the last installment. Its the WW total that is more concerning with ofcourse a bigger budget this time, though it should still be very profitable with $700m+ WW total.

Re: Weekend Estimates
Yeah I would have called $275m a major success. The fact that it will get to $300m (or close to) is pretty amazing.
