Queen & Slim
Quote: Queen & Slim is a 2019 American romantic drama film directed by Melina Matsoukas (in her feature directorial debut) and written by Lena Waithe, from a story by James Frey and Waithe. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Jodie Turner-Smith, Bokeem Woodbine, Chloƫ Sevigny, Flea, Sturgill Simpson and Indya Moore. Described as a modern day take on the legend of Bonnie and Clyde, the plot follows two African-Americans who must go on the run after killing a police officer during a traffic stop gone wrong.
Queen & Slim had its world premiere at the AFI Fest on November 14, 2019 and was theatrically released in the United States on November 27, 2019, by Universal Pictures.

Re: Queen & Slim
Loved it. It's beautifully shot and Jodie Turner-Smith is terrific. My only complaint is the humor mostly didn't work for me. It felt cheap and hokey. But I thought everything else about it was great and powerful so I can overlook it.

Completely loved this! Will be in my top 3 of the year even though the ending pissed me off and was absolutely Jodie Turner-Smith and Daniel Kaluuya has better get awards traction for this

Re: Queen & Slim
Really solid film, but also a bit too long IMO. I never got bored by it, but at a certain point I could definitely feel the running time. That being said it's masterfully made with two great performances from both Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith. Bokeem Woodbine was the best part of this to me though and I wish his character was in it more. Really dug the music too and will be getting that soundtrack eventually.
