Re: Favorite film of 2014?
Voting for Whiplash, but solid well rounded year overall as I like both Boyhood and Birdman, blockbusters like The Hobbit and Guardians, and comedies like 22 Jump Street.
A box office performance I totally forgot: Unbroken went 30/115, and that's with poor quality. WTF? No wonder they made the most unneeded sequel ever

Re: Favorite film of 2014?
Nice main page article.
Some great gems this year, #1 is a tough call between Wick and Whiplash.
1. John Wick 2. Whiplash 3. Edge of Tomorrow 4. Gone Girl 5. X-Men: Days of Future Past 6. Interstellar
Also I really liked the Chinese film Fleet of Time.
And Guardians, Birdman, Boyhood and Lego Movie are all great too.

"Other" because of Under the Skin, Deux jours, une nuit (Two Days, One Night), 20,000 Days on Earth and Leviathan. Honorable mentions: Inherent Vice and The Guest; and from the poll options: Edge of Tomorrow and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Re: Favorite film of 2014?
fuckin A this year was INCREDIBLE!
I can't yet choose a favorite but it's between:
The Grand Budapest Hotel Interstellar Birdman Boyhood
then right behind those, all excellent:
Whiplash Gone Girl Tale of the Princess Kaguya Nightcrawler
and highly delicious popcorn fare:
Edge of Tomorrow Captain America: Winter Soldier Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
2014 was AmAziNG!!!

Re: Favorite film of 2014?
Hmm this was actually a much better year for movies than I remember it being. Maybe not quite on 2013's level, but still pretty damn strong.
1. Interstellar 2. Whiplash 3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 4. Edge of Tomorrow 5. Gone Girl 6. Guardians of the Galaxy 7. American Sniper 8. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 9. Lone Survivor 10. Boyhood

Re: Favorite film of 2014?
Though a weak BO year, it was a very strong year quality wise.
The Grand Budapest Hotel Boyhood American Sniper Captain America: The Winter Soldier Nightcrawler The Guest Guardians of the Galaxy Gone Girl

Re: Favorite film of 2014?
Voted for Guardians, though obviously, as stated in the article, the best film of 2014 is The Raid 2.
Also, along all with all the amazing stuff I mentioned there was also Snowpiercer (which I hadn't seen yet) and Inherent Vice (which I forgot came out in 2014). Quality-wise this is the best year of the decade by a mile for me.

Re: Favorite film of 2014?
Damn I completely forgot that The Raid 2 and Nightcrawler came out that year. That just makes it even more of a great year for movies even though BO wise it was really weak.

Shack wrote: Interstellar wins Can't argue with that, although I like the rounds where there's a final match between the top vote getters (I know Interstellar had the most but Galaxy Guardians and Budapest Hotel were right behind). Though Interstellar would probably win decisively facing off directly against those two?
