You knew the King had to show up at some point. And that branding is still accurate even in death, perhaps even more so than ever. His entire catalog of singles has been permanently put in the pop rotation. And while I could certainly go a few years without hearing "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" again, his Thriller songs hold up no matter how many times you listen to them.

Tik Tok is another song I didn't fully appreciate at first. Obviously it is maddeningly catchy and no one can deny that. But here I am thinking it is just a ripoff of Just Dance, somehow played even moreso, and this Kesha chick would never amount to anything. Wrong! It wasn't until a few years later, with the Die Young/C'mon dual release, that I started to consider myself a fan. Her album last year proved that she was a legit musician too, not just a voice to throw over a Dr. Luke beat. Having said that, with clear eyes towards the past even knowing what we know now, Tik Tok is still her best.Never stop partying! I feel bad about what it cost her, but like all great artists she eventually turned her pain into something worth championing.

Livin On A Prayer might have once been considered a rock song, but after climbing all the way to become to most sing-alongable song of all time it is undoubtably pop in 2018. And it has Bon making silly noises with an autotune. It also helps that I came into this song through American Idol, when Jordin Sparks totally nailed it but then was brutalized by the judges. It was way better than Blake's dumb beat boxing of You Give Love A Bad Name! Luckily she still won in the end, though her Livin on a Prayer cover wound up being the best thing she ever did.

Get Lucky is a song that should have got old but never did. It also should have hit #1 but never did. Luckily they cleaned up at the grammys to make up for it. Whoever came up with the idea to team them up with Pharrell deserves a grammy for "Best Idea Ever". This song would still be good with a robot singing, but Pharrell gives it a soul. That makes me sound like a biotic-supremacist, it's too true to not say though.

Demi crashes into the top ten with her third entry. Though unfortunately she gets the death spot at #6, twice previously occupied by Linkin Park. It was hard to keep it out of the top five though, I even went and listened to each one before completing the set, just to make sure nothing could be bumped down. Skyscraper is also the only ballad to appear in the top ten. Demi just cuts me deep with this one, there's so much vulnerability in the lyrics and way she sings them.

Dang you love you some young Demi, I actually used to listen to some of them, they are cute (I like some songs such as La La Land, Solo and Got Dynamite) but in some ways also disposable

10 - 6 is pretty great, well especially 10 and 8 are such classics, that I can't believe the "nothing special" Tik Tok is sandwiched in between. But Get Lucky is a great continuation of the list, and Skyscraper I like too, but I prefer Heartbreaker.

Fair enough stuffp, I probably put GYHAB too low just to separate the Demi songs.

And yeah I really just love those 3 songs and Really Don't Care to a lesser degree. Her new stuff sounds like Beyonce, but not as good, and her old old stuff sounds like Avril, but not as good.

Thanks for the comments guys. Will post the top 5 now.

Shouldn't be too surprising of a top 5 I'd hope.

Forget Me Now is a My Success Is My Revenge song, which we've seen a few times on here, but obviously not as good. It's funny that the first song on ATC's album is an aggressive 00s Paramore-like that set my expectations in a very different place for the album. And while I like Running With The Wild Things, I'm so glad it was not that.

Run Away With Me really does take you to the feeling. Or more accurate a state of bliss, Carly perfectly selling what I assume is her best romance. I guess he finally called her? Even though I love my homepad, headphones are the best way to experience this one.

That opening guitar riff for Teenage Dream always gets me, setting me up for adventures to follow. The video, while not as sexy as naked clouds, is also a lot of fun. She definitely had my heart racing in those skin tight jeans.

Since U Been Gone was originally going to be a Hilary Duff song if the rumors are true. I like Duff, gave her a spot earlier in the list, but gosh what a waste that would have been. Imagine a world where we don't have Kelly singing this song and using it to launch herself into superstardom. I cannot! And yeah I ranked it over Never Again, which placed 35 (?) on my all time list because its poppier and all that. But SUBG was pretty close to making that list as well.

Sparks Fly was my overall #11 favorite song, so there was never much of a question as to what would take #1 here. I was gonna quote my write-up but it's a bit nonsensical and very much requires context. I do still agree that Taylor's joy over this new love is what sells it to me so much. Much like Carly, the happiness is seeping out of her every word. And since Taylor is a master of composing, she knew to put a matching country-pop melody along with it. Every lyric fits every note and is one of many reasons she is the real Queen.

I'm not so familiar with that top 5, aside from Since You've Been Gone, which is great. Especial Swift, I just never really got her music. I'll listen to this top 5 later.
