You can re-vote in the poll. This way, we can see what you think of IX before and after VIII opened...

$700-$750m. Don't think "final one of the trilogy" will help it much since we know there will now be SW movies every year for the rest of eternity. It'll go down another $100m. TFA was $900m+, TLJ will be $800m+, and EIX will be $700m+.

The nature of the storyline will ensure this increases I think.

Likely will increase 10-20% from SW8.

Unless JJ puts in some fan service this will fall for sure from TLJ.

After TLJ first week history is definitely repeating itself.
IX will increase for sure.

Eh unless they come up with a really great hook I still don't see this increasing. Sure history has repeated itself with the third movies in this franchise increasing, but I feel ROTJ/ROTS had more going for them at the time even though it's hard to say when we haven't even seen a trailer for Episode 9 yet.

It should comfortably stay over $600M though.

I’d say it depends on WOM. I don’t think ROTS would have increased if it were on AOTC TPM levels of quality.

There was not much Clones did to get folks excited for in Sith. At least Last Jedi turned around folks like me who thought Star Wars was growing stale and uninteresting

With Jumanji doing big numbers I think the studios will try better counter programming in face of SW now which is why I think it won't see a 10% increase though it should definitely see a small increase. I'm thinking 5-7% increase over $635-$650m total of TLJ.

They will have to market this movie unlike TLJ that went to 220 with ease.

I think a lot of people may be burned out of SW by 2019 unless there is an interesting hook.

Ren is a shadow of vader.

There is no ultimate bad guy to interest people.

Rey is too powerful to be as interesting as Luke.

There is no TFA like ending that ties to into TLJ.

Fin and Poe are rather weak and uninteresting characters compared to Han Solo and others in the old films.

No older characters to fall back on.

Disney will make sure of that, yeah. But the savvy among us will know not to get excited because it isn't really going to be the finale. And normal finale rules don't apply. Disney will be releasing Star Wars movies every year for the next hundred years, so it's not like anyone will ever get starved of Star Wars [and therefore must show up to watch the finale].

These movies are so huge they surely have a big set of casual audience such would see a decline but then again their is this massive fan base that will see the movie multiple times, this crowd can easily fill the gap of the loss from casual audience. So a lot will depend on the WoM.

TLJ is gonna have a similar drop than what ESB and AOTC. Both ROTS sand ROTJ increased from those films so I’d be surprised if IX wouldn’t, though getting a 20%-25% boost seems doubtful.

I’ll go with a 10% boost from wherever TLJ will end, which right now would put this at around 750m. If it ends up being a super crowd pleaser it could do 15%+.

9 will be tougher to hype up for the audience. No Vader/Luke stuff to get people excited. I think it probably stays pretty flat versus Last Jedi.

not sure what the hook of this now. Whether Kylo will get defeated? Considering Rey already bested him and is basically the strongest force user in the universe I don't think there is much suspense about that. LOL

I'm wondering if Rey's parentage or another big villain is in the cards for next installment. I think that's what GA were interested in knowing the most and they could always come up with reasons for hiding the truth.

Might make close to TLJ but it will open big enough to get past $600m mark. The relatively large 1.5 years gap between two SW wil also help here.
