 Taylor Swift Appreciation Society
I originally compared this to Yeezus, but the more apt comparison was The Life of Pablo. The drastic sound change could have been a disaster, but the artist is too damn great to let that happen.

 Re: #Reputation
It's awesome. Taylor could have made an egotistical mess like Yeezus but went the other way and made it feel from the heart like earlier albums just with a pop sound.

 Re: #Reputation
Not really. I'd give "So It Goes" the edge over the worst song on 1989 (This Love) and Red (Sad Beautiful Tragic) though.

I think Getaway Car is my favorite followed by End Game, and ...Ready for It? has really grown on me.

Getaway car is good. Not sure whether I like 1989 or this better.

 Re: #Reputation
Very balanced album. No clunkers (Dancing With Our Hands Tied is my least favorite), but also nothing that feels like her best song ever.

 Re: #Reputation
So this album is pretty much a disappointment commercially? It didn't have one well received big hit. Even Future and Ed Sheeran couldn't get the album a third top 10 hit. All the singles have tumbled down the charts.

 Re: #Reputation
It's annoying how she thinks she's too good for her music videos to have anything to do with her songs. I enjoy her going all Weapon of Choice but why do it one of the most romantic songs on the album (Delicate)?

Delicate sounds so recognizable and un-special, but on the other hand I kind of fricking love it.

Just started new album, but I already love Cruel Summer. I knew she wouldn't let us down.

Cornelia Street I can’t believe Me! is gonna be on this album. It’s making a run as her best so far.

First listen rankings!
1. Cornelia Street 2. Cruel Summer 3. I Think He Knows 4. False God 5. Daylight 6. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince 7. London Boy 8. Death By A Thousand Cuts 9. The Archer 10. It's Nice To Have A Friend 11. Lover 12. Soon You'll Get Better 13. The Man 14. Paper Rings 15. I Forgot That You Existed 16. Afterglow 17. You Need To Calm Down 18. ME!
1-11 are all fantastic and everything but the last two is pretty good. It would be her best if not for them. I think Shack had it right, finding her true (maybe?) lover has created a balanced Taylor who can write a song called Cruel Summer and not have it be about Kanye West, and who can also embrace her past while also moving her sound forward. She was a little too excited about it early on, and thus needed to calm down herself to reach full potential.

Loving this album already from the get go. Another knockout.
The Man is really a standout for me so far.

Re: #Reputation / My My My My Lover
It's phenomenal. "False God" is my favourite thing here, the jazzy sound suits her SO well. More in this direction on the next album please. Also she should really work with Matt Healy, a lot of the sounds on the last 1975 album would work amazing with her songwriting. More than anything she sounds liberated here, free of the need to play the villain, free to profess love not to a fantasy but to a real person, and to explore sonically. "It's Nice to Have a Friend" is phenomenal and sounds like nothing she's ever done.
"Lover" is a note-perfect ballad and I hope it becomes a massive hit. It's magical. The first two singles didn't do as well as they hoped so she needs a hit, and this is the song with most potential on the album IMO. A lot of fans want "Cruel Summer" but I think that one's destined to become a fan-favourite album track. It's awesome, but I don't think it would work on radio. Starts and ends too suddenly, and it doesn't have a strong lyrical/conceptual hook.

Re: #Reputation / My My My My Lover
Lover is perfect for the 3rd single. I honestly would've considered London Boy as the first single

Cruel summer and the .an are winners
The rest is meh. Then there's Me! At the bottom. Of the barrel. How did that become the lead single?

Taylor is massive in Asia so she needed something with a simple, concise theme and a big hook and sound. I don’t think anything else on the album has the global appeal of Me!.
