Re: Headshot
So its impossible to not compare to The Raids. And it isn't as good as them, despite getting alot of right. The action choreograhy, the music and the cinematography are all top notch.
Both stories are about a man fighting for redemption and/or revenge. However, I think Headshot might have actually been better in this regard. The villains are set up in a familar way, each one having a unique weapon or combat style. But as the mysteries are revealed, these killers actually become sympathetic. You root on Ishmael as he tears them apart in the first, but in the second act every kill is downright tragic. Through flashbacks, they really sell this group as a family. We feel Ishmael's anguish as he has go through his brothers and sisters one by one, begging them to stop but knowing they can't. They didn't have the luxury of losing their memory and being reborn away from their master. "It is my fate to follow that fucker."
I'd recommend to any fans of The Raid, but brace yourself. The bone crunching violence is not the hardest thing Headshot hits you with.

Re: Headshot
Not as good as either of The Raid movies, but still a pretty badass martial arts flick. I thought the main villain was weak overall, but I loved the fact that when this movie got violent it never shied away from the gore. It's a lot bloodier than The Raids IMO and while the action is top notch I was expecting more from the story which is actually quite interesting as it unfolds. Iko Uwais is a very sympathetic hero in this and continues to impress me with his acting chops.
It was also really cool seeing Bat Boy and Hammer Girl again.

Re: Headshot
I'm disappointed at Chippy's consistency. No original Indonesian title included as part of the thread title.
