Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
What an unspectacular year it has become after a strong start with Bibi & Tina 3, Deadpool, The Revenant and Zootopia.
Me Before You is the only genuine big surprise this summer.

Oh there have been plenty of big surprises this summer and this year - unfortunately most of them were bad...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Hopefully mark66 is doing alright. The international box office updates have been lacking with his absence, too.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
I was talking to someone about the Chinese and their copycat ability today. Whenever a new technology comes out, within a month or two the Chinese have half-a-dozen copies out in release. Then I said that Germany does almost the same thing. Whenever a new software platform or app is released, there are a few companies in Germany that just adapt it for the German market and the original gets left behind. It happened with LinkedIn (Germans use Xing) and others. So the Chinese are not so different to the west.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Is the box office being down a result of lackluster performances by local productions, imported productions, or a combination of the two?

It's about even... 52 % of the loss is due to a shrinking local share... And the Euro Cup did cost a couple of points too... Fortunately 2017 looks much better - at least on paper...

Looks like LOGAN will open with 325,000 admissions right between the other two Wolverines (367,912 and 250,280)...

Yesterday FIFTY SHADES DARKER reached the 3m admissions mark. That's the first movie of 2017 to reach the "official" blockbuster benchmark...

Germans! They should re-release Beim Jodeln juckt die Lederhose. That had more sex than 50 Shades has.

Looks like KONG will open on the same level as LOGAN (in US-$ probably a bit better)...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
GOTG2 opening weekend 740,000 admissions ($9.25m)
that's the biggest comicbook opening weekend in five years (since TDKR's 857,332) and the biggest Marvel opening weekend in ten years (since SPIDEY 3's 857,370)
