Breaking Bad
The AMC show is actually pretty good and stars the dad from Malcolm in the Middle. Its pretty much like Weeds.

Re: Breaking Bad
This seems like a wonderful change of role for Cranston as I always pictured him as loopy Hal from Malcolm!

Breaking Bad pretty much is his vehicle instead of having a supporting role and more dramatic at that. I did like the concept of the show since it also reminds me of Schumacer's Falling Down. A Science teacher teaking out a possee of drug peddlers by trapping them in a RV with phosphate

Re: Breaking Bad
I started this last night. Watched the first two episodes. Great dialogue. I'm loving it so far. Aaron Paul is perfect in this role. Cranston is awesome. Will watch the rest as soon as I can.

Re: Breaking Bad
Is there explicit content? I only ask because I'm watching it on a Chinese media player, and they have a tendency to cut sex and explicit violence. The first two episodes, while really good, weren't explicit, and I get the feeling they really could have been. So just wondering.

Violence yes, sometimes very. Sex, none.

Re: Breaking Bad
That's good then. Violence is less cut than sex, so all might be good.

At latest in the final episodes of season 4 you'll find out how much violence is cut or not.

It would seem very odd to me if this is the main Breaking Bad thread considering it's popularity. Not the best show ever, but very entertaining.

It is the best show ever. And it is not the main thread.

Re: Breaking Bad
This isn't my favorite TV show ever but the last few seasons (3-5) are fucking incredible, season 5 is one of the best seasons ever broadcast and "Ozymandias" from season 5 is maybe in my top 5 episodes of television of all time. I still get chills thinking about it and how amazing the execution was. It's definitely one of the all time greats.
Will never watch "Better Call Saul" though. Saul was overrated as a character and I don't care to see what happens before/after with him.

Re: Breaking Bad
Oh, Better Call Saul is a spin-off from Breaking Bad? I didn't know that. The only exposure I have to someone called Saul was on Homeland, though of course I never thought it was related to that. I just thought it was a standalone show. I'll also never watch it. Well, unless I really begin to LOVE Breaking Bad and this Saul character (which I've not yet met).

Re: Breaking Bad
I'm four episodes in and it's really, really good. I'm not getting "best tv show ever" vibes, but it's still addictive and I just want to binge it all (it really is the best way to watch TV). Hank Schrader is probably the most watchable character in it. Fucking hilarious. But Walter is the best, and obviously Hank would be too annoying if it was just him for 50 minutes. Walter is a much better anchor. I'm at the stage where Walter just tampered with some dickhead's BMW convertible and it set alight.

Re: Breaking Bad
I guess at the moment, while great, it just feels less preciously made. It doesn't have the finesse of a TV series such as True Detective, and because of that it doesn't feel remotely like it could ever challenge for best show ever status. I don't know, perhaps later seasons get more money pumped into it. Plus, the music is nothing special at all. It's almost stock music level.

Re: Breaking Bad
It's also fun as it truly gets better every season. I mean, there's definitely some all-time great episodes in Season 2, but the whole show just becomes more and more intense and professional as it goes on.

Also, I think the earlier seasons look much better in retrospect when the later seasons make you realize how perfectly it was all set up and laid out from the very beginning.
