This is a movie similar to Mother's Day where the old formula feels so poorly executed you could vomit it out. The aspirations are there but there is not even a single shred of proper story telling. Barry Sonnenfeld adds nothing to this movie. I give this a slightly better grade than MD because of the actors who try hard to lift this crappy material but the script, direction and everything behind the screen fails them.

Nine Lives

This was unfairly maligned. Sure, ok, it's not a masterpiece, but it's an innocent and fun enough film. It's totally silly on face-value. Kevin Spacey turns into a cat. Oh my God. This must be awful! Well, it isn't any worse than other Sonnenfeld films like RV, or other talking animal films like Cats & Dogs or Zookeeper. I laughed a few times at Spacey's dead-pan delivery as a cat. It's funny. It has bad things, of course, such as the story in general, the details regarding the takeover of the Fire Brand, the acting across the board, and obviously Mannifer Garner. But it also has things to counter those; Christopher Walken, Cheryl Hines, and that light fluffy comedy that just makes films like this such a breeze to watch.

lol. You talk as though it's an experimental film. There's clearly a story, and it is properly told. It's the "rebirth" plot that so many other films have also used. I wish you would at least think before you type. I suspect you actually, secretly, liked the film but are also aware of its RT score so you had to say something negative about it, and lol, that's the best you could come up with.
