From Beijing With Love (Chinese: 國產凌凌漆; pinyin: Guóchǎn Líng Líng Qī; "Made in China [Domestic Produced] 007", "007" in this case being phonic to an otherwise nonsensical expression, "to pour paint") is a 1994 Hong Kong action comedy film directed by Lee Lik-Chi and Stephen Chow, an obvious spoof of James Bond movies. It stars Stephen Chow, Anita Yuen and Law Ka-Ying.

All fans of Kung Fu Hustle and Stephen Chow's humor in general should see it. The movie is basically a very straight James Bond parody, but unlike Austin Powers, it does take itself somewhat seriously at times. It is pretty bloody and there is some "real" storyline going on. This fact sometimes gets into the way of the film's humor. There are, however, several outright hilarious scenes, one of them being very similar to the "knoves-throwing-scene" in Kung Fu Hustle. Entertaining film, but not as visually enthralling as Hustle.

From Beijing With Love (国产凌凌漆)

Brilliant movie. A tongue-in-cheek version of James Bond, but this is better than most James Bond movies. It has the title sequence which ends with a funny encounter. There are jokes all the way through it but it's still quite violent. It has the Martini line, the villain is a guy with a "golden gun", there's a type of Q character, or at least the workshop where Q displays his inventions. It's got all the nods.

It's got the pace of a true Hong Kong movie, and it leaves feeling more satisfied than after watching Quantum of Solace or Die Another Day. I love these types of movie, like Black Mask (though this is not as brilliant), the style of movie and music used are quite similar, but this is still a true one-of-a-kind. His weapon of choice? knives. He's amazing with them. Great movie.

B+

^ I heard this movie has never got an official release in China because of its depiction of the Chinese authority as corrupt and stupid.

I thought the scene where Stephen Chow watches porn with Anita Yuen by his side picking bullets from his gun wounds was great. It was romantic and comedic at the same time, which is rare.

It was some time ago now, but I watched it on television. Either that or on one of those streaming movie sites like PPTV or iQiYi. Either way, a platform that if the government wanted to, they could have removed it from being seen.

I'd have no idea. I saw it years ago and cannot remember it so vividly.
