Peanuts definitely broke out. When was the last time such a quirky animation made over $120m? That's CG-animated level of success.

Lego Movie, definitely more quirky than usual, both in tone and animation.

Yeah..and I remember people being flabbergasted that The LEGO Movie did as well as it did.

Lego was no surprise. Lego was huge in the 80s and is huge now. No surprise.

The Peanuts Movie could have gone either way. The strip had a massive fanbase for 50 years so that counts for something but it certainly isnt big among kids today. Its also has a much more leasurely muted style compared to the more frenetic styles of the animated pics that kids are now used to these days. Thus its quite the success IMO.

I did say SW would make a killing, but that would be irrelevant, because it doesn't show health in an industry when all profits go to one company for one movie.

Hotel Transylvania 2 did very well too, for whatever reason. Forgot about that because it's Sandler.

Peanuts legs are just really weak actually. Its opening was fine.

2015 could be the year of stolen thunder:

-Furious 7 stole Age of Ultron's thunder.
-Star Wars is stealing Spectre and Mockingjay Part II's thunder.
-The Martian stole all late September and October releases' thunder.
-Inside Out stole Minions' thunder.
-Earlier spy movies somewhat stole Spectre's thunder.
-And it could be argued that Jurassic World stole Tomorrowland and San Andreas's thunder.

Into the Sea or whatever it's called becoming one of the biggest flops of all time, Legend failing to go wide, Sisters actually debuting below Alvin, which God forbid, is the only movie that really exceeded expectations.

The Mediocre Dinosaur was actually the Bomb Dinosaur. Victor Frankenstein...wow. Even Creed has yet to cross $100m after the reviews and OW.

Star Wars making money does not negate the death of everything else.

Also, Star Wars is close to shit, so rewarding mediocrity helps the industry not.

I'd like it if the Xmas releases, especially the Big Short, Hateful Eight and the Revenant prove me wrong, but otherwise, I'm spot on so far.

Honestly, I'll bet the response grows lukewarm with time, if not now already.

I do find it quite hilariously sad how many people are hooked onto it and have to justify it just because it is better than the prequels.

RT is mainly American, just like most of the critical reviews. I'm sure you've noticed, but maybe you haven't if you're a fanboy, how easily Marvel stuff skate by on RT, no matter how drab and uninteresting and similar they all are. Even MC. So, I don't really think that's the end all be all place to test response. The movies that are at 90% audience rating are all a bit of a joke and that's because fanboys are the main audience for that too.

It was quite a dull stretch from October to November and yes the year is going to end very blockbuster heavy few of which also disappointed still you cannot call it ending with a whimper when records like biggest OD, OW and most likely biggest movie of all time unadjusted has just started its run.

Its ending a rather uninteresting(dare I say disappointing) year on a high note.

Looks like 2015 stands an excellent chance of beating 2013
