Most likely because I didn't remind anyone to reset it.

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
Sad. I miss the games. Any chance of getting the boxoffice theory folks involved? It was alot of fun during the BOM years when you had 100+ people participating.

We've tried. They weren't for it. Because fuck them.

Hi all - sorry I missed last week, and that this week is a little last minute. On vacation and just completely forgot.

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
Ok, I'm reaching out to Boxoffice Theory. I want to get more participants involved. I don't see why there is such a disconnect. They would love this game (most of us came from BOM after all) and they have the numbers.
If the issue is that it's on a "rival" site, is there a 3rd party option? I think Eagle has another movie themed website for his game. Is that an alternative for a new home?
I'm not giving up on this....

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
There is another B.O. prediction site I play on, a well done one, in fact. It's only 5 movies every week (the major openers and holdovers they select) but there is always a new game, etc. Only downside is there is no monthly/yearly tracking of players, but you can see how you fared each week against everyone else.
I've not mentioned it on here because I'm not looking to divert traffic AWAY from KJ - a site I really enjoy and want to thrive.

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
I reached out to BOT. I included an option for them to link to the Derby on this site. That would be ideal.

They won't come and play. They don't care about box office.

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
I thought it would be cool to get all the KJ Derby players on the prediction game I participate in. It also has a generous 3PM Friday Deadline for predictions. I really just don't want it to advsersely impact participation on here (which I doubt it would, since it's only a game, not a forum).

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
Guys, sorry. Life transition thing happening. I have a reminder set now. But if someone else would like to be an admin to do the derby just pm Eagle and request to be a derby admin. Assuming he's got the time/ability to do it easily at this point. It's pretty easy to do once you have access.
Results from previous week since the game won't accept actuals.

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
I know he said he's not supporting the derby anymore but if it's a simple operation hopefully he'll be able to do it.
Also more hopefully there can be a derby resurrection somewhere that will attract more players. I fear that without BOM it can never be as big as it was there. But maybe.

If I can be assured that KJers will continue to utlilize this site, I will provide an alternate option for Derby players. Ideally, we could play on the 3P site and still discuss our results on KJ. I've introduced it via PM to a few people with positive feedback, but again, we wouldn't be playing on here.

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
http://boxofficechamps.comSign up, predict, and discuss your results on here. Note it's only 5 films compared to 10 and the scoring model is different - instead of percentages, each film is scored by differential from gross. New game every week, generous 3PM Friday deadline for predictions. Good luck! (Everyone might find the Studio Game intriguing, as well - Summer season begins May 1st, can build your studio now.)

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
Box Office Champs is OK, it reminds me a lot of Box Office Seer, hopefully they stick around despite very limited participation. Chip is now an admin, for whatever it's worth. As for Box Office Theory ... I don't really understand the choices they make. I did ask about cross-promotion for the various games, it wasn't something they've ever been interested in. At this point, I've given up. I have the ability to build a new Derby on Box Office Seer, but it would require $250 to $500 a year for data, and about 40-80 hours of my time. It's just not worth it unless there are enough players, and there just aren't enough players. If I felt it would ever hit 100 consistent players, I'd have built it months ago.

Also, if anyone would like to suggest smaller movies to predict, please request before Monday at 7pm EST. Because if I don't set the new week by that time, I will set on Tuesday in the morning.

 Re: Derby Game Discussion Thread
These will be the actuals:
1. Barnett - 88.24% 2. Chippy - 88.18% 3. The Scottie - 87.48% 4. Shamukillercon - 86.17% 5. Mike - 85.33% 6. theBigE - 85.08% 7. Lights Camera Action - 83.18% 8. King87698 - 82.54% 9. lilmac - 73.73% 10. Birdman - 68.35%
Scottie was #1 with estimates, while I was #2. Things changed with actuals.
Question:
Would people prefer the whole 4 digits be used for actuals, or the nearest first decimal? So like... 4.123 OR 4.1?
