You'd bang Robbie Amell too.

Saw a free screening Wednesday night. If you like teen comedies it's a lot of fun. I thought it was cute and funny. Predictable, sure, but really enjoyable. Mae Whitman and Robbie Amell were great and had a good chemistry. Whitman was really funny. The audience seemed to enjoy it a lot. Tons of laughter and only heard positive things on the way out. I was with a group of 8 and everyone loved it.

8/10 (B+)

Its social media aspect is way too pushed in your face but it's an enjoyable film. Amell and Whitman work really well off each other

This was great! I really loved it despite it being derivative of things we've seen before (a few scenes are borrowed from Easy A almost verbatim and Bella Thorne's character is basically Regina George). This is clearly the movie that is meant to make the underrated and phenomenally talented Mae Whitman a star on the level of Emma Stone, and the movie works so well because of her winning and charming performance. She's equally matched by a surprisingly great Robbie Amell, and the two have an incredibly believable chemistry that makes their scenes together a delight. I also highly enjoyed Allison Janney and Ken Jeong in supporting roles, and there were quite a few laugh-out-loud moments. I'd definitely recommend this. It's a lot of fun. A-

I enjoyed it. It's got a fairly low-key feel to it that I kinda dug. Mae Whitman does an extremely great job at carrying the whole film.

Mae Whitman is great, hope she gets more roles. Her and Amell make the movie a lot more enjoyable then it could've been. Unfortunately the movie doesn't hit anywhere near the top tier of teen films but it's a cute enough movie that gets its message across. Everyone else besides the leads were forgettable/didn't really have anything to do.

Mae Whitman has always been a standout on NBC's Parenthood, and here she carries her first movie with aplomb. She is wonderful in The DUFF, a charming teen comedy that has some writing misfires but enough spark to get by. Whitman shares an unforced chemistry with Robbie Amell, and I actually got the sense that these were real people, not stock characters (although the two of them are really hard to swallow as high school age). After my critics, most of my colleagues (who mostly have never heard of Bella Thorne before) actually thought that she was clearly older than Mae Whitman (despite Whitman being nine years her senior). LOL

Mae Whitman and Robbie Amell still have this year's best chemistry in terms of on-screen movie pairings, IMO.

I can't believe they made a movie called The DUFF, that's not about Hilary Duff.

This was really cute and fun, and there was the twist with Toby I didn't see coming. The rest was predictable, but I think I liked this better than Mean Girls. It doesn't hurt Bella Thorne isn't bad looking either.
