First of all, thanks to everyone who has voted. Though I must admit that it must be the first time ever that I received less ballots in the second round than in the first (32 ballots in total vs., I think 37 or 38 for the nominations). I guess there just is not much excitement going around for the films of 2014.

Always good to start an awards show by shaming the audience.

Fine pick. I picked Coon, but any of the five would've been a solid choice. Strong category.

Re: 11th Annual WOKJ Motion Picture Awards WINNERS LIVE CERE
Best cinematography In Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), director of photography Emmanuel Lubezki, in tandem with the film's editorial team, creates an illusion of the story unfolding in a single shot. His ever-moving camera glides over and zooms through a Broadway theatre and the nearby city streets, folding time and space in on themselves while intensifying the sense of nervous anticipation and claustrophobia experienced by the characters as production mishaps mount. In Gone Girl, director of photography Jeff Cronenweth casts a foreboding shadow over a pleasant Midwestern suburb, using a color palette ranging from blue and grey to yellow to turn artificial, bright, and presumably safe surfaces into veils behind which suspicion expands and violence threatens to erupt. In The Grand Budapest Hotel, director of photography Robert Yeoman helps director Wes Anderson achieve his exacting snow-globe vision in a way more colorful and epicurean than ever before. He also employs shifting aspect ratios to enhance the film's nesting-doll-style intertwining of various timelines, turning the very shape of the frame into an active tool for storytelling. In Interstellar, director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema's camera journeys with sweeping brio from pastoral scenes of American farmland to the perilous, tsunami-swept, ice-encased surfaces of previously unexplored planets. The cinematographer also never loses sight of the human characters (so small, so resilient) amidst the earthly and celestial grandeur. In Under the Skin, director of photography Daniel Landin infuses urban and rural scenes from contemporary Scotland with a quality both menacing and wondrous to reveal the rhythms and textures of our world through the captivated eyes of an alien disguised as a beautiful human woman. He renders the recognizable strange and sublime. And the award for best cinematography goes to:

Another strong category. I picked Interstellar, but I think GBH has it.

Re: 11th Annual WOKJ Motion Picture Awards WINNERS LIVE CERE
I'm surprised Birdman was second. I would've had that pegged at number four. Interstellar Grand Budapest Hotel Gone Girl Birdman Under the Skin Then again, Gone Girl looks like a typical Fincher film so maybe that knocked it even lower.
