You guys are fools, this movie was a manipulative, cliche, saccharine sweet piece of shit. Mandy Moore isn't too bad as the perfect little Christian girl, she pulls off the role of a saint really well. On the other hand, Shane West as the "rebel" is about as threatening as that little spot of urine I had to wipe off the toilet seat this morning. This film may hold the record for most times the camera annoyingly pans up to the sky. I thought the film had taken the cake with it's howlingly awful token black guy, but nope, this shamelessly sappy stinker just bashes the audience with one too-sweet-to-believe moment after another. MovieDude, sorry you didn't like it, but I still feel as strongly about this film as I did over a year ago. It really touched me. I think it was about the sweetest little love story I've ever seen.

Heh it's a manipulative little bitch of a movie, I can see how it could really have touched people, it's just that I cringed every time it tried to pull on my heartstrings. As long as you didn't get any enjoyment of the token black guy I'm alright.

Heh...I didn't get any enjoyment out of him, because I didn't notice him. Sorry.

Hmm, well I like Mandy Moore. And there's nothing really 'bad' about the movie: it's well-acted (for the most part), and the story is pretty straight-forward. Apart from the howlingly hilarious token black guy, there's really nothing wrong with it. And it's still terrible. The whole thing feels like an extended episode of Dawson's Creek or One Tree Hill, except - incredibly - worse. There's no depth, no developed characters, no reason to feel for any of these people when the movie ends. It's just an utterly bland movie.

So melodromatic, really did feel like those Dawson Creek episodes. Moore is good as always, though a bit laughable. Not my thing. D+

 Re: A Walk To Remember
The biggest problem, I thought, was that the movie didn't really do a good job of showing them fall in love. One second, Shane West is all like, "in your dreams," and the next second, he kisses her in the school play and says, "I wanna be with you." Oh, really, Shane West?
That bothered me. Maybe I missed something there, but I didn't believe it.
The rest of the movie is pretty good, really sad, etc. Mandy Moore is great.

 Re: A Walk To Remember
Usually I'm not a fan of how fast and without anything to back it up, two people fall in love in a movie but I really think they did it right here. I totally bought that those two are deeply in love with each other, thanks to great performances by Moore and West. Probably the movie I should be most ashamed for loving it, but I'm not. A+

What Riggs said, But i think it was pretty obviously manipulative sometimes. it still hits the right emotional notes.

 Re: A Walk to Remember
just rewatched this... Besides the eye roll worthy stuff with the teenagers (lol @ his best friend) it's a genuinely sweet movie. What makes the movie work is the chemistry between the leads.

 Re: A Walk to Remember
Whenever I'm backed up, I watch this. The shit just pours out. God help us if people in the real world are anything like this. Shane West was truly one of if not the worst Teen to Young adult male flushed down our throats in the early 2000s. He just has one of those "punch me" faces.
I think it's safe to say I'll never be a fan of Nicolas Spark's stories, but I'm not a 13 year old girl, so rock on!
D+/C- as I do find it funny how much this film tries to be emotional.

 Re: A Walk to Remember
Aww, I've always enjoyed Shane West. He is gorgeous to boot. I used to LOVE this movie as a kid (I was like... 11? when it came out, so it was to be expected). Now it's ridiculously corny and melodramatic, but some of it still works. I don't know what I would grade it. I love the relationship with his father.
