I'm glad Arquette won. It's overwhelmingly deserving.

Patricia Arquette gave a wonderful speech, and she deserves to sweep this season.

I saw the whole YouTube, I agree on paper sounds like she's gonna walk away with the statue next year.

I hoped The Grand Budapest Hotel would upset Birdman in the screenplay category.

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Awards
I wonder if our very own Dr. Lecter's assertion that Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl screenplay represents too easy and direct a 1:1 adaptation of her novel will undermine her at the Oscars, where the competition will include Whiplash and The Imitation Game.

Well I mean they could just give her the Oscar for the novel. I mean it is almost the same with the Coens and No Country for Old Men. The film was a fairly direct adaptation of McCarthy's work. Anyway, could Whiplash not end up being nominated at all because of the late switch from Original to Adapted and the ensuing confusion?

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Awards
This has been a largely ho-hum telecast so far, full of smug and self-satisfied celebrities content at being famous and pretty. The whole North Korea thing feels, dare I say, safe and boring. We get it, guys. And it wasn't funny the first time.
I don't think I've laughed once so far at anything. May be my mood, may be a lack of originality. It feels like every winner is going through the motions. The only winner I've been happy for in terms of being wide-eyed and taken aback by the whole experience is Gina Rodriguez. Lots of deserving winners for sure, but she was sincere and overjoyed by it.
I'm normally okay with their soapbox, but it feels like Hollywood is on an extra-large soapbox tonight. "We are famous and we won't be pushed around anymore!" Ricky Gervais was more bang-on than normal with his "We're better than the normal people" joke.

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Awards
Wow, with respect to Maggie Gyllenhaal, I am a bit surprised and saddened Frances McDormand did not win. Such a cherry-on-top-of-a-great-career performance.

The wave of misogynistic hatred inspired by her performance in The Dark Knight was grotesque.
