 Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Right now it looks like INTERSTELLAR will open to 425,000 admissions (around $4.75m), that's the 8th biggest opening of the year...

Hmmm, INTERSTELLAR seems rather frontloaded, now it looks like 375,000 admissions ($4.2m)...

 Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Mark, can you explain what the hell is up with those random showtimes for Die Mannschaft in most movie theatres? Why is it not playing like a normal film? The demand is there...

 Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Pretty simple. When the release date was announced, the TV airing was scheduled for the 2nd week of December. This is of course way below the usual 4 month non-theatrical window. So the large chains didn't treat it as a regular movie and scheduled "event showings" instead.
The TV airing was postponed to January 2nd btw...

 Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
I know the new date, but hasn't it been posponed a few days ago, giving theatres enough time to do a new schedule?

 Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
Well, even with the new date it's still way below the 4 month window... But some chains are reacting to demand and adding screens and/or showtimes...

 Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
What a pitiful pitiful year at the German box-office. Only three films are gonna pass 3 million admissions, it seems. Terrible.
Mark, did you forget Mockingjay I in your second trend? I doubt it is falling below 30,000 admissions this weekend...

 Re: Germany Box-Office Thread
So....admissions-wise this could be the worst year since the unification, right? When was the last time we had only three films above 3,000,000?!
There is really no excuse why films like Maleficent, Godzilla, Interstellar, American Hustle, Edge of Tomorrow or Who am I? didn't do better. All of these would have been much bigger hits ten years ago.

So its doing better than TH1 and very well ahead of TH2. When it comes to Hobbit series, German numbers are really nice.

2014 will live in infamy - the worst admissions total since 1992 - even though there are some 25 % more screens compared to 22 years ago...
