By the post credits scene.

I loved that scene. I was more disappointed in the Iron Man 3 post credits scene. If it has nothing to do with future films then at least make it funny.

Also, why introduce The Collector in Thor 2... and then just waste him in this?

It is a bit odd - I assume he'll play a role later on. If you look that much like Mugatu, you have to be secretly evil.

I mean, I guess they're all leading up to Thanos? But this is a whole lot of work just to get to one bad guy. And I guess it will be worth it if he kills more than 1 Avenger? Maybe? I don't know. It just seems like they're just trying to pump out very enjoyable movies as long as they can before audiences catch up and say "Hey... nothing is fucking happening".

I wouldn't hold it against GOTG. He's been useless in every Marvel appearance so far.

This nicely captures a lot of the issues with Thanos in the MCU thus far.

That said, I don't hold it against this movie too much. He's there for a couple minutes then goes away. The movie has plenty of other bigger things that are awesome and problematic.

This sums up the Thanos controversy

Quote:
Thanos’ incompetence wouldn’t be so problematic if every Marvel villain besides Loki wasn’t a complete and total dud. From Iron Monger to Abomination to Whiplash to Ronan The Accuser to the guy from Thor: The Dark World whose name I couldn’t even remember until I looked it up on Wikipedia just now (it’s Malekith), they’re all interchangeably generic evildoers with interchangeably generic evil plans. The glimpses of Thanos are used to paper over their blandness with the promise of excitement down the road. These bad guys might be bad, they insist, but just hang in there; this purple guy will be really nasty.

While perhaps not utilized perfectly, I would not say Hugo Weaving's Red Skull is a complete dud. He is rather menacing and striking in The First Avenger.

Meh, Red Skull couldn't do anything without Dr. Zola, whose one scene in Winter Soldier proved to be more menacing than Weaving's entire character. Though Weaving can turn anything weak into something menacing, so I agree not a complete dud. At least he was the nemesis of CA.

Overrated. Didn't know Americans were such Marvel fanboys. Or to such an extent.

It's a rather mediocre movie. Comic timing is off a lot. Maybe they took some time to allow American moviegoers to tweet "Watching GOTG #omfg" in between? Took telling not showing to a whole new level of bad, I mean, people fault disaster movies, or whatever movies they don't look that are popcorn blockbusters but love this? Gamora "Rocket you are so smart, you turned off the gravity outside but kept it here inside! <3 #love #imsurroundedbyabunchofidiots" A stunning amount of unrealistic moments (Even for this kind of movie) just to move along the plot...that thing in space? Yeah this exists in the same universe as Iron Man. Then again, Captain America had Nick Fry being reconstructed organ by organ and Black Widow Wolverine so maybe it's all one and the same now. I hope Iron Man dies in the Avengers 2 or most of them. Finally a sense of danger unlike idiots like Red Skull, Whiplash, Mandarin etc.

People also have no idea what character development or heart is if they're going to say yes to this. We'll have every movie now doing the shortcut bullshit way of storytelling by having random moments of "Does it feel good to be taken apart and put back together again #hamsterproblems" "My mum and dad were killed back on Pandora #getsmoneydoingnothing" "My wife and daughter were killed by your non-father #wannabeliamneeson"

Directing was terrible. Most of it falls on his shoulders. Then Marvel's safeness and cookie cutter storytelling and I suppose the script but Gunn or Marvel could have fucked off all the dumbass lines by themselves.

#didioverusethehashtagamericansyolo1secondattentionspanlowstandards

The funniest line for me was "It is so dark in here, I cannot see" where my friend and I were laughing uncontrollably.

Dying at this comparison:

Quote:
In a sense, Thanos has accomplished more good deeds—helping heroes overcome their differences and learning to work together as a team—than bad ones. His master plan better explain why he wanted to create all these groups to stand against him, otherwise he’s officially a dope. At this point, a better comparison for Thanos than Emperor Palpatine is Dr. Claw, the shadowy puppet master from the Inspector Gadget cartoon, who spent the entire series ordering people around while he sat in a chair, and was repeatedly outsmarted by a little girl and her dog. Thanos even kind of sounds like Dr. Claw.

It actually might be my new favorite Marvel film, still nothing on the Dark Knight trilogy, but good none the less. Marvel is starting to get good at this. It wasn't until recently that Marvel films felt as complete as they do now.

Iron Man starts off so well, but then falls flat in the third act like most of the pre-Avengers Marvel films

People will cringe reading their reviews in a few years. This movie is A.W.F.U.L.

A Wonderful Film Understandably Loved?

It's not awful, you're way too overdramatic. I can't remember the last time I really saw a truly piece of shit of a film. Maybe Bug, 8 years ago.

Awesome movie. Not really the best of the year so far for me, but still pretty great.

The post credits scene was kinda lame... but whatever.

Very enjoyable. It was a lot of fun and Chris Pratt was wonderful in it. I do think it was a bit overhyped though. It definitely wasn't the second coming or anything. :P Still, it was better than I expected it to be a few months ago. It was about on par with The Avengers for me.

Saw it again this weekend, and I think I can call it my favorite Marvel film so far. I'd probably rank it as my 3rd/4th favorite superhero (Marvel/DC) film behind Spider-Man/Spider-Man 2 and Batman Returns.

01. Guardians of the Galaxy (A-)
02. The Avengers (B+)
03. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (B)
04. Thor: The Dark World (B)

06. Iron Man (B)
07. Captain America: The First Avenger (B-)

Great film and very entertaining as it feels like a mini Avengers kind of film

The film is far more enjoyable and entertaining unlike Man of Steel that lacked any soul.

I do agree the Marvel films may lack some real purpose like the Nolan films but they entertain well and far better then the average blockbuster fare.

Easily the surprise hit and Wom hit of the summer.

A-

PLus Marvel is dominating... They turned a third tiered comic book heros in o the biggest films domestically so far this summer and year it seems.
