He was featured in that little art film called Toy Story 2.

Has any plot point in history been dropped as swiftly as optimus requiring the other autobots to repair himself?

The Dinobots are a bit of a dud in the end. They are very cool to see, but we saw them in the trailer. They never do anything particularly interesting. This big introduction for glorified horses.

The dinobots are a really weird thing in this movie; logically, they're supposed to feel like that last-minute mcguffin that will save the day, but you never get any indication that the good guys would be losing in the first place if the majority of the autobots didn't fuck off out of the city in the first place.

Post Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction
I didn't wanna see this, but my boyfriend did, so...

I don't know if it's worse than the last two films, but it's definitely not better. I honestly get confused with everything that's going on in this franchise.

And I noticed some obvious plot holes/mistakes that made the film seem rushed in order to meet the release date (or the filmmakers didn't bother to pay any attention to their film).

>When Shane first pulls up in his racing car, he's not even driving it. There's no one in the drivers seat. I thought it was a Transformer coming to help them out.

>Why did Optimus Prime say he needed the other autobots to repair him when he clearly didn't?

>Stanley Tucci's character's face is covered with dirt/mud and everything in one scene, and right after he doesn't have a spec on him. Maybe he was carrying face wipes in his pocket though.

>When Hong Kong contacts Beijing for assistance, and then we see them responding saying they'll be sending jets or whatever, but.... I don't recall seeing any assistance whatsoever during the battle? Maybe there was a jet or two flying around, but I don't think they shot or did anything.

And while not a mistake I suppose, why can't anyone/anything EVER hit anything with a damn missile?! These helicopters are missing Optimus Prime (in his truck form) driving like 20/30 mph on a dirt road! I counted 6 shots that made no contact. And of course all the other projectiles that miss their targets throughout the rest of the film.

And there are so many horrible lines from everyone/everything in the film. I guess the films aren't known for their writing, and people don't seem to care, but whenever someone says something stupid it always reminds me of how terrible this story is. The entire plot of the bounty hunter transformer needing the CIA to help find Optimus is just weird. He has this high-tech spaceship, advanced weaponry, etc. so why not use some kind of tracking device that could locate a transformer's essence? That doesn't sound unrealistic all things considered (enormous magnet that can suck up anything?), or he could have had tracking robots or something, too, no? And Kelsey Grammer's character is all "There's no good or bad transformer (or autobot?)!! There's only us and them!" at the end and yet he has this contract with one and tells him to do whatever it takes to recover that seed (even if it kills all of humanity apparently). What is going on in this film.

D+ (Stanley Tucci is at least entertaining, and the dinobots are cool looking. And that one scientist guy using the Transformia or whatever to create Rainbow Dash was certainly... interesting.).

Oh man where to start with this one ? Well I didn't hate it, but overall it's probably the worst Transformers movie so far and for this franchise that's definitely saying something.

List?

1. Transformers

*an enormous gap*

2. Dark of the Moon
3. Age of Extinction
4. Revenge of the Fallen

The first film has its flaws and lapses into chaotic indulgence, but it is so superior to what has come since. There are moments where the Decepticons are truly menacing and mysterious. And the dynamic between Shia and Bumblebee, a type of fantasy version of the excitement and freedom a teenager's first car represents, is potent.

I can't see what the hate is all about. It's a highly entertaining (and shallow) movie. Better than Spider-Man, X-Men and Godzilla.

At this point I would honestly call the first movie underrated. Sure a lot of the comedic moments are forced or don't work, but I have grown to like the characters and it definitely has some Speilbergian heart in there too. Also, maybe being the shortest Transformers movie helps it digest better over time.

The stuff here is just beyond lazy and the main characters are dire. I didn't buy Wahlberg as a nerdy inventor, the daughter is a shallow vessel and the boyfriend was a incompetent douchebag who Marky Mark should have shot in the face with that alien gun. TJ Miller's character was the only one who was pretty likeable, but the rest of these people I couldn't give a damn for. Strangely enough Tucci and Grammer seemed to be the only one's who knew what kind of movie they were in and have as much fun with it as possible without being too annoying.

Also, the Dinobots not showing up until the very end was lame.

I really liked it. The action scenes are refreshingly clean visually and have a well thought out plan. Bay knows what he's doing in that regard. Despite the length of the film I didn't get worn out of it.

As for the storyline, yeah the plot itself isn't the most memorable but I thought Wahlberg made a good lead and the jokes between him and the boyfriend were solid. Stanley Tucci was funny as was John Goodman robot. The human plot was never going to be the reason to see the film but I thought their plot moved in a focused enough way for the film to work and it just had enough introduction. The bounty hunter robot is a cool villain/wild card and Megatron is in it just enough.

It's a great action film/blockbuster and lives up to the promise of what Transformers films are supposed to be, which are kind of the blockbuster of blockbusters. It's an awesome film that goes all out. This is the Transformers franchise in its wheelhouse again (the only weak installment of the series is Dark of the Moon) showing there's an art to making the biggest in your face blockbuster imaginable

Yeah, this is pretty terrible but I think knowing it was so damn long and just going with it made me mildly enjoy myself. I didn't find this as tedious as the third one.

Transformers: Age of Extinction

This is GBH to the eyes. Visually, it's pretty amazing, but the film runs far too long and a lot of what happened didn't make sense to me. Things were not explained too well. Mark Wahlberg did a fine job, as did his daughter, but the "boyfriend" was totally useless. This film, along with all the rest, are just trashy cinema. Somewhat enjoyable but very trashy, and forgettable -- all four films merge into one 10-hour saga of destruction porn. I could probably not distinguish any one scene as being from a certain Transformers movie. They're all just the same.

The Michael Bay-isms were still present, and he knows how to mix pleasing comedy with action spectacle, but in my opinion, a Transformers movie is not the place for laughs. The film also ended abruptly.

I don't really count animated films for actors overall. If I did, John Ratzenberger would be a mega-star.

These films, and the last two in particular, are the film versions of McDonald's food. You know it's not great food, and you know it's junk that you will have to work especially hard in the gym to burn off, but every once in a while, you just indulge yourself. It's nice to slum it sometimes, and when I slum it, I like to be looking at effects and explosions, effects and robots, effects and destruction!!!
