Re: A Million Ways To Die In The West - 175m Club
I didn't go to the press screening today (which would have had me signing an NDA anyway), but I heard from a pretty reliable source that the film sucks hard. Coming from someone who found Ted, Neighbors and most recent successful comedies funny.

Is it surprising? It was always set up to suck hard. It's not cool enough. Cowboy spoofs have so been done to death.

Too bad, the concept and cast gave the film so much potential.
All aboard the 22 Jump Street hype train!

Never thought this was going to make $175m but with the WOM being bad and 22JS releasing so close to it I believe this won't do good. It needs to open big to get close to $150m which I think is looking unlikely at this point.

Seeing this on Wednesday. Hoping it is good, I loved Ted but dislike Family Guy a lot.

Reviews might not be so bad, it has a very impressive cast. Although not showing NPH or Seyfried in any of the ads is a bit worrying.

We don't know if the reviews will be bad. All I said is that one guy, who has seen it today and whose opinion is reliable, thought it was bad. For the record: he did like Ted and he also liked Neighbors. So he is not just against vulgar comedies. However, even more indicative than hisopinion is the fact that MacFarlane apparently wrote a novelization of the film (WTF?) that is out already and I read a pretty bad review for that. http://www.theguardian.com/books/2014/m ... irst-novel

Re: A Million Ways To Die In The West - 175m Club
It sounds like the novel cuts a lot of the film out and the reviewer says it doesn't make much sense and the funniest stuff is cut out. I wouldn't worry about the novel much mainly because writing a movie and a nove are so different.

Not in. It's being released on a traditionally slow weekend. The posters make it look like a B-movie. It would be lucky to get to $80m.

Re: A Million Ways To Die In The West - 175m Club
I never thought it'd be a big success. The trailer was pretty bad. I'm not sure what the hook is unless it's Ted-follow-up and even then Ted was overrated and a bore.

Re: A Million Ways To Die In The West - 175m Club
The budget on this is only $40 million, so at worst it'll be a disappointment. I think the cast will at least get people out to sample it opening weekend - I'd be surprised by anything under $25 million opening weekend.

I just saw the trailer for the first time. It's actually pretty good. In-your-face, star-studded farce full of toilet humor that's easy to digest. Good for the bowels :0 Quote: It would be lucky to get to $80m. I think it can hit $80m but might miss $100m.

Its hard to gauge. The trailers did not get any reaction until the cameo by DB.

Think this may have trouble getting $50m total.

I believe it will end up with around 85 million.

I wonder if the film's mediocre reception will hurt Ted 2...

Don't think Ted 2 will be impacted by this too much but in general that should do less on OW than the original because the marketing on that one was outstanding and the novelty of seeing the thing first time.
