At this point, we're gonna have to start applauding studios that make only one movie about of a book as it will so rare.

That was Ender's Game's problem. It should have ended right when he arrived at Battle School.

The biggest problem with the Ender's Game film is that it exists.

So fuckin stupid, a shit book gets turned into two shit movies.

Harry Potter deserved a split, but the final movie was a letdown (to me).

Still, Breaking Dawn was all kinds of shit and it made hundreds of millions so these franchises have really no reason not to; if crap can succeed, so can we.

I hope this fails though so we can get at least one cautionary tale on the board. This franchise is so rushed that they had to have the second filming before the first was out of post-production.

Anyway, even though the Matrix and Pirates suffered from their splits, they still made a hell of a lot of money. Long term, however, it kills potential. No one cares about the Matrix and Pirates imploded. These books have no option to go on, so I guess they don't care if it kills potential. My personal exhaustion with the trend won't affect the fans who would have to see both parts, unless the first was rated badly, but even then: Breaking Dawn.

I think the fact the Twilight Saga was such a success really means anything goes.

Meh. It was inevitable, I suppose. I'm a little surprised that they didn't wait until after the grosses for the next film came in to make the official judgment, but there's a mandate to milk as much money as possible out of these franchises.

The jarring piece, as with The Hunger Games series, will be watching the first two movies rush to fit everything into one movie that feels like two distinctly different pieces, while the finale is (presumably) neatly divided into two movies.

Enders games was surprisingly good, the marketing was pretty bad.

Anyways... ill eventually see the first film but i honestly dont have any interest on seeing any of them.

Ehh, its still an iconic series/property and Revolutions with today's ticket prices, 3D and expanded foreign markets would comfortably pull in 600-700m. A new Matrix film would absolutely have potential to be big, especially if its good.

It's still not as bad as turning one book into three (cough The Hobbit).

Nah. It's been too long, and the last one was pretty poorly received.
