I think The Lego Movie will make it, but it's still nowhere near a lock.

I will move Lego movie from locks to candidates though I still believe it will clear the mark.

Whether you believe it or not is not important. A lock is a guaranteed outcome. You have to start understanding English words if you're going to post on a forum where English is the main language.

This is actually an expansion for Lone Survivor, it is still a 2013 release even though it will make ALMOST everything in 2014.

Gran Torino = Lone Survivor? (sort of)
Paul Blart = Ride Along? (possible)
Taken = Jack Ryan (doubtful)

I don't think the 2014 movies will individually outperform in openers but its the holdovers that will carry this year. I mean look at Frozen, it has already done $55m this year is looking to do atleast $90m if not $100m.

Clearly not if it's a Sparrow lock.

Film itself is an afront to God. Only the Bible should be able to tell stories.

So Lego becomes the second movie of the year to join. It should join the list in just 9 days (who would have thought that?). As always I will update the list after the actuals are out.

Lego Movie should stay number 1 until at least June. And it is funny how people questioned if it should be considered a lock.

What is the record for most 100m films before May?

It would appear to be 2012 with six:

The Hunger Games
Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
21 Jump Street
Safe House
The Vow
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

2009, 2010 and 2011 all had five.

Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Captain America 2 and Rio 2 should all be locked, so it'll be up to wildcards like 300: Rise of An Empire, Divergent and Noah to break the record.

I think we'll match the record this year as a minimum.

Yeah at least one of those should get past 100, probably Divergent.

2014 now gets another one movie in this list from both January and February.

Aaaaaand it looks like all of the wildcards will be crossing the mark. So we should be looking at eight movies making over $100 million this spring, two more than the record. And that doesn't even include Frozen and Lone Survivor's calendar grosses!

There is even a small chance of 9, if Transcendence can exceed expectations.

The question though is will Rio 2 make it before May? Transcendence even if it gets to $100m will not reach it before May. All the movie from 2012 reached the mark before mid-April.
