Re: THE HOBBIT: The Desolation of Smaug (WW ASSAULT)
You're probably right.
On a sporting note Algren, I'd like to know how big the Li Na match was in China.

I have no idea. Since coming to China, I've really not watched any Tennis. It just seems way harder to access.

So SMAUG did $23m in its first 2 days in China - is $1b back in play?

Re: THE HOBBIT: The Desolation of Smaug (WW ASSAULT)
It's going to need $140 m isn't it? What other markets does it have left? Japan saw Hobbit 1 do $19 m. Possible, but the more important question is does anyone care about The Hobbit 2 anymore? I feel Frozen and CF completely took most of its thunder.

Re: THE HOBBIT: The Desolation of Smaug (WW ASSAULT)
That's a great opening in China. It needs about $100m from China for $1b....which I still don't see happening. It might be able to about $30m-$35m with a better release date in Japan though its not guaranteed yet. At this point unless they re-release the movie in many markets to get it past $1b its not happening.

I doubt $1 billion is happening, but it will get to $700 million overseas. I am thinking around $975-985 million worldwide.

I hope it makes a billion, it would only need 100m in China and 40m in Japan minimum......... I guess

Re: THE HOBBIT: The Desolation of Smaug (WW ASSAULT)
Being the final film it should make more than #2. Probably not a lot more but I can't imagine that wom was so bad that H3 is gonna fall even further behind the gross of #2.

Re: THE HOBBIT: The Desolation of Smaug (WW ASSAULT)
Hasn't every Jackson-Tolkien installment beaten every Fast movie ever made?
So, regardless of whether all 6 installments are each over $900m or $850m or even $800m, it matters not because it's fantastic to gross this much again and again.
