Wow, the 3-D Blu-ray cover is atrocious: http://www.flicksandbits.com/2013/08/19 ... led/54980/Not a huge fan of the cover of the 2-D version, either, to be honest.

I really like the poster version of the 3-D cover; would've been better if they didn't zoom it.

I didn't realize Covers were the reason people bought DVDs.
I thought most like me threw them out and put them in a big DVD travel case.

 Re: Man of Steel
It's called college. The variety was always the perfect way to hook up with a girl. Just head there have about 250 selections. The prototype of Netflix in my opinion.
Now that I think about it, I have two huge boxes in the attic just filled with cases, I didn't mean I actually threw them away. But when people have no idea what's in the case, it's almost like a photo album for your films. Still covers mean nothing to me when buying a DVD. Even people with elaborate displays of their films, it's always just the back end of the cover.

Saw it on Blu Ray and I liked it.
Though the movie isnt so epic or makes something so special that I think a second one is needed.

Man of Steel
Just watched it again. So awesome. I feel the "I WILL FIND HIM" line is, contrary to all others, very moving. Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I adore this movie. It captures me and brings me into this world. The score is masterful and uplifting with its sense of importance and promise, and Cavill does a good enough job as Superman. The lens flare and camera work, I also love. I usually hate this type of thing, but it works here because it brings this world down to Earth as if it's real.
Epic film, and it will always bring back memories of sitting in the cinema and being engrossed in this thought-out and developed story. It's so much more powerful than any previous Superman movie

Can't believe I gave this a lukewarm review in this thread. In retrospect it's a terrible film by a terrible director

 Re: Man of Steel
Well, I finally watched this again after buying the disc. I really enjoyed this more the third time around. I saw it back to back times in theatres when it came out. Maybe I should have given that 2nd viewing a bit of space. After this viewing, I love the soundtrack a lot more, the fighting between the Kryptonians is great and I liked Zod/Cavill and Adams more as well. It actually gets me hyped for the SM/BM film. The destruction is still over the top. I can't fathom how many folks got killed but the action sequences they made are very well done. I still don't like that stupid "I think he's kinda hot" comment by the fake female Capt. I hope they can bring back Feora somehow from the Phantom zone.

 Re: Man of Steel
Agreed. I hate the "he's kinda hot" comment too. It's unneeded, but it's not out of place. I mean, earlier in the film, another military guy informally says "Superman...that's what they're calling him".
Another thing I wonder about is, just as you said, thousands of people must have died in the destruction. Especially when the ship is falling inbetween the buildings and scraping the hell out of them. But then again, the film doesn't try and be anti-death. It's a more realistic view of Superman...he's not God. He just tries his hardest. Also, I think it's pretty funny how the helicopters and jet planes didn't land on any of the buildings in the first brawl with Zod's gang..they landed in a straight line in the street. lol
These are observations and/or small niggles. Film stills gets an A-

I don't understand the complaining about the destruction. They wanted to DESTROY THE PLANET. This isn't some weak Avengers shit.

 Re: Man of Steel
The problem with the destruction is real, but not unique to this film. It has become a problem in many large-scale, four-quadrant action films. Entire cities just destroyed for a "neat" shot for the trailers, such as the climactic obliteration of San Francisco in Star Trek into Darkness, an enormous and grotesque spectacle which barely contributes to or impacts the actual storyline (the pursuit of Khan). It undermines a sense of humanity, a sense of real danger and suspense.

 Re: Man of Steel
Zod. Is. Trying. To. Destroy. Earth.
A sense of real danger? What do you want Zod to hold a knife to Lois Lane's neck? Does that show more humanity?
How does the destruction of a city not show "real danger"?

Chippy wrote: Zod. Is. Trying. To. Destroy. Earth. He's not. But that's a different topic. Like I said, it really doesn't matter to me because this movie doesn't contradict itself. It's just an observation. This would never have been possibly in the incredibly weak Superman predecessors.
