Because theatres cannot drop it yet because of the industry standard contractual obligation.

There have been movies that drop theaters in second weekend. Contractual obligation might be yes, so they would be cutting it from prime showtimes or that is also in contracts?

Almost no mainstream wide release loses theatres until its third Friday.

I imagine many theatres have reduced its number of showtimes. This is not reflected by the theatre count.

At mine it's down to one screen instead of two. But I noticed at others it's down to just two showtimes.
