Whoa. I didn't even realize the budget for the first was more than that.

lolz. its gonna do at least 400m WW. thats profitable for a 105m film.

You quoted me while I was editing my post :P. I looked at what the first did after posting that and didn't realize it was so big overseas. So yeah, it should be profitable. Will likely take a dip from the first but will still make its money back with ease.

Does anyone know the budget on the new Percy Jackson?

I don't think it will survive four movies the OS takings this time might stay flat very similar to Alvin and then decrease from part three.

That would be better for 2 Guns.

Yep $61m seems a good number for 2 Guns but you never know which one is correct. It couldn't have just $23m of marketing budget so I am not sure where $84m came out in the first place.

Hmm true, that could be the case.

So Millers should be easily profitable from its domestic takings itself.

PJ's budget is also good though it will have to do significantly better than the last one in OS markets.

Wow thought Kick-Ass would be over $40M at least. It should make enough in the US to justify the third and final film.

You can tell Kick-Ass 2 did not cost much. It honestly feels smaller in scope than the first.

Kick-Ass 2 number is impressive and I agree with David it looks somehow much smaller in scope than the first, we haven't seen a single WOW factor in trailers atleast we saw the explosion scenes in the first movie's trailers.

OKish for Bulter thought it could have been made cheaper. From the trailers it does not look cheap still given the type of movie I though it could have done with $20m-$25m budget.

HUGE for Paranoia, they should have never given it so much budget. Were there a lot of reshoots or delays involved ?

Great for Jobs, it actually looks a little better than just $13.5m production IMO. The marketing here in Singapore is really heavy for it.

Paranoia's budget is obviously not positive news relative to early reports of its dire financial performance, but I do not believe it is -huge- in general. It does have a couple major actors and such.

Yea, $35m for a modern thriller with 4 known names is not huge. In fact, it's about right, or even below-average.

While all the four actors are known name they have been attached to movies with relatively lower budget. None of them are a draw! Maybe my expectations on its budget were too conservative. I think it should not have cost more than $20m and that is MAX for the type of film it looks from teaser. I actually thought it would have been made in under-$15m. It didn't look a typical $35m movie to me.

It's a glossy Hollywood production with four star names. Come on, Jack Sparrow, I think you're being unfair. Even some indie pics get made for $15m. That's far too low. $35m is about right for this movie. It's looking stupid now because of its low opening, though.

As I said I am probably being too conservative on this one but before the opening itself I thought that it looked $15m-$20m movie. The biggest star is Hemsworth who has been in cheap movies aside from THG which did not succeed due to him. Amber Heard is all about limited and Direct-to-DVD movies. Both Ford and Oldman aren't a big pull even in these kind of movies and honestly I don't believe they always work for big paychecks.

Yes, I'd agree. I thnk Ford is all about the money nowadays and not about the art. But Ford is a bigger star than Liam Hemsworth.

I meant the biggest sell point of this movie was Hemsworth or the lead actor. Even the trailers clearly showed Ford was in supporting role.

I wonder if they'll even bother filming the next installment next month if this under-performs, which seems very likely. Highly, highly doubtful it reaches that 60 Million budget in the US.
