 Re: Man of Steel
I don't see that much issue with the script. I mean of all the real complaints (Why not do it on another planet or break his neck earlier) we wouldn't have a movie if they did that. The story is competent, and the characterizations are fresher and well done if controversial at times. For me biggest flaw is the editing, and at times effects are overtaking action set pieces (And that is very much a Snyder issue)

Editing is very average at times as well. Reeks of studio control, actually.

I don't see why some have a problem with the Zod death. When else did Superman have the opportunity to break his neck? That was the only time that I remember.

 Re: Man of Steel
I call bullshit. The estimated damage in Avengers only projected to $160 bil. No way this was 4.375 times worse. (Though that's a horribly written article)

There is no believing. He DID destroy the city.

I don't think it involves much in the way of twisting. My girlfriend texted me after we saw it: "Trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of deaths. And he had the opportunity to move the whole fight to space. Go get him, Lex!"

 Re: Man of Steel
This was like a stereotypical Marvel movie...
A bit of a mess but quite fun and entertaining in the end.
The movie started off interesting and then slowed down and got a bit annoying with the choppy eiditing between the past and present and I was getting a bit upset at the film.
Thankfully Zod comes back really adds to the tension and drama and the film improves dramtically. We get some epic action scenes that were a bit video gameish at time but entertaining. The City destruction was fun and showdown with Zod was epic but in the sequel they need to vary the action. Having characters with God Like Powers punching other over and over again is repetitive. Last thing I would say about the Superman character that has annoyed me since I was a kid.
Does Superman have indestructible body or does have a big bubble around him, they way he goes through all that with a tear on his shirt or a dirt mark on him is too much.
Even so Louis Lane was nice and Crowe and Costner did a great job and imo Zod's character carried the film creating a lot of tension.
First Half 6.5/10, 2nd half 9/10 Overall 7.8

 Re: Man of Steel
His suit is made of Kryptonian fibers, so it's near indestructible material. That's my thought.

 Re: Man of Steel
This ended up being a bit of a mixed bag for me. I thought the first 90 or so minutes were pretty darn good, but then the movie just ends up becoming a mind-numbing collection of destruction without any real sense of purpose or direction. Henry Cavill shows a lot of promise in the role and GOOD GOD is he attractive. I liked that Lois Lane had more to do than be a damsel in distress, and Amy Adams is terrific as always. Didn't feel much chemistry between the two of them, though. I thought Russell Crowe, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner were all great, although Michael Shannon foams at the mouth a bit too hard occasionally. Weirdly, Man of Steel is incredibly different from Superman Returns but I found its quality to be at about the same level. B-

He was still gaining and controlling his powers. Point of fact it took Superman over 30 years and multiple attempts to actually fly into space. That was one of the main points of the first meeting with Jor El, to continuously test yourself. If Zod did the (I'll kill everyone) earlier this point would have been sold better. But Zod was not going to leave Metropolis on a whim.

 Re: Man of Steel
IMO the Smallville battle was far better.
The city destruction was cool but Zod and Superman bitchslaping each other got repetitive.
