Agreed, I got more emotion out of the guy beaming his daughter up, and erasing any existence of his wrongdoings to anything Kahn did. That moment with Kirk to his crew was the most emotional part of the film, and the only time payoff really happened (Scotty's other great moment)

Also, I hope there is no more old Spock. He was amazing in the first film. Here, he is just a way to move the plot along

Absolutely, the only person to ever imitate that well was George Castanza in Seinfeld. Honestly, it'd be just as awkward as someone saying Hasta La Vista Baby. I thought almost all of Spocks interaction with Kirk was forced as well. I did not sense 4 or 5 years has passed. They were just the same problems as the first film, only slightly more civil.

I had the impression that less than a year had passed since the last one. The characters weren't supposed to have gained anything while we were away. The only thing that has changed is the rapid advancement of warpcore technology.

I barely remember Nemesis.

A very quick and entertaining 2 hours. I do think should've had a more epic feel for the second half though. I thought the Spock/Kirk stuff was good but I wish we got more of the supporting characters.

Like almost every movie I've seen in 3-D, it's noticeable at some points but overall not worth the ridiculous price.

Competing with Trek 09 for my favorite Trek film. Absolutely amazing from beginning to end, retelling a classic story with perfection. Quinto was awesome, easily my favorite performance in the film, Cumberbatch was totally aces as Kahn. The rest of the cast was rock solid. Easily the best film of 2013 so far.

I think the 3D really helped bring this film to life, at times fake and flat looking but the majority of the time it looked great, best post conversion I have seen for sure.

But an opening like Return of the Jedi would have been awesome!

It's fantastic. It's pretty much the perfect summer movie - Benedict Cumberbatch is a great villain and I found his character pretty fascinating. The action sequences are very well-staged and exciting, especially the final half hour or so, and the entire cast is as charming as ever. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana take center stage here as they did before (with Saldana getting a bit more to do this time around) and all three are great. Karl Urban and Simon Pegg deliver memorable supporting performances. The relationship between Kirk and Spock is still the heart of this entry, and a scene between them near the end rivals the opening scene of the first as one of the best and most moving scenes in the entire franchise. It's just an absolute blast and I can't wait to see it again. A

Another issue I have is the whole beaming problems in this film. Kahn can use Scotty's technology and beam halfway accross the universe into some sort of cave, yet the Enterprise can't get Spock a few hundred yards away in a volcano, or Spock and Kahn off a moving future taxi?

It's Star Trek so I can't get too annoyed, but I'm just surprised so many people are calling perfect. It's plot is up there with stupidness of needing Humpback whales so Earth isn't destroyed by a giant whale speaking swiss cake roll.

Really? Besides fighting w/ Spock, speaking Klingon and shooting a gun at the end I felt like she wasn't in it that much. Would've been nice to see her character more imo.

Looking at the cast, it is unfortunate that Urban was entirely wasted here. I loved him as Bones in the first one.

On the upside, Scotty had more to do.

Urban's one-liners were great.

Except he's used for nothing more than one-liners.

He has great chemistry with Kirk there and their interplay is better. The scene in which Bones gets Kirk on the Enterprise - classic.

I agree, I like the relationship between Kirk and Bones, Sulu, and Scotty much more than with Spock because of the first film. Unfortunately their scenes together combined equal like one Kirk and Spock scene in the film.

I think it's a mostly fun movie with a nonsensical, overcomplicated script and way too many familiarities. Cumberbatch is only given a couple of great moments, otherwise he felt like a generic villain who punched well and stood around a lot.

I think everything Kurtzman and Orci touch turns to stupid.

An entertaining and satisfying science-fiction action film, though perhaps a bit deflating, too, considering the glowing response to the prior film and the longer than expected four-year wait for the Enterprise's next big-screen adventure. This is not an inspired sequel in which each character, theme, and visual idea reaches a new and powerful height, which I suspect many hoped for, so much as a conservative and pleasant extension of the last film's various charms. The forceful and magnetic presence of Benedict Cumberbatch as antagonist "John Harrison" elevates the picture, though I wish his character were more nuanced on the page. Chris Pine still feels perfectly cast as Captain Jim Kirk, though one hopes a hypothetical third film finds more to do with the character than once again position him as a hotshot horn-dog in the first act who learns the meaning of community and leadership under fire.
